Responsibilities
  • Follow and support all company safety and GMP procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies.
  • Complete daily safety checklists and attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensure that all safety checks are made before putting equipment inline.
  • Monitor employee safety, work habits, and PPE use and follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  • Know the company’s quality vision policy and help to achieve it.
  • Monitor multiple lines while ensuring a high standard of output and quality.
  • Maintain quality standards according to specifications and tolerances.
  • Direct packers, machine operators and senior team leaders to perform quality inspections.
  • Be trained in QAN root cause/corrective action.
  • Maintain correct and proper paperwork.
  • Have a working knowledge of JDE/WebEFF.
  • Able to run travelers and schedules out of the JDE system.
  • Know how to scan product into JDE correctly.
  • Maintain production requirements including scrap rates, production rates, line speeds, blends, and weight tolerances.
  • Maintain the pounds‑per‑man‑hour goal by managing the team effectively.
  • Able to start machines up and make changeovers (set gussets, thread equipment and make changes to downstream equipment).
  • Maximize equipment efficiencies to meet current MEEF, EFF and YIELD goals.
  • Use knowledge of resins, additives, concentrates, etc. to adjust to changing manufacturing conditions and maximize efficiencies.
  • Get approval for changes to any resin blend that differs over 10% from the traveler.
  • Plan, assign and direct work to maintain production goals of pounds‑per‑man‑hour.
  • Input downtime and production into the computer for the entire shift and maintain the packing summary sheet.
  • Prepare the work area for the relief shift to ensure a successful start.
  • Adjust equipment to maximize production: box erectors, tapers, and labeler.
  • Know pallet stacking formations for all orders.
  • Ensure all pallets are properly labeled and tagged.
  • Manage bins – keep the bin area organized.
  • Maintain housekeeping in areas at all times to 6‑S standards.
  • Help train employees in job duties from the current position to entry‑level positions.
  • Assist maintenance with repairs and equipment reliability; perform routine equipment repairs.
  • Make minor repairs on equipment and aid in trouble‑shooting with maintenance technicians.
  • Write maintenance requests when equipment repairs are beyond training.
  • Complete forklift inspection before using the forklift at the beginning of each shift.
  • Move packaging materials to the lines as needed or requested.
  • Ensure boxed resins, fillers, or concentrates are staged at lines.
  • Inspect all pallets for accuracy in regards to weight and correct stacking configuration.
  • Inform senior team leader of weight variances in finished product.
  • Weigh scrap boxes at the end of each shift or when full and record net pounds.
  • Inspect trash containers for recyclables before dumping.
  • Return all materials to the proper location when changeovers are completed.
  • Check fuel level in forklift before the end of shift.
  • Participate on teams for quality improvement, cost savings, productivity and safety.
  • Be a team player and exhibit the gung‑ho attitude.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, including performing job duties from the current position to entry‑level positions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in a team‑work oriented environment is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of extrusion/converting equipment and process desired.
  • Must pass forklift and electric pallet jack training.
  • Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one‑on‑one and in small group settings.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates and percentages.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic PC knowledge.
