Job summary

Versiti Blood Research Institute is seeking a dedicated technician to prepare quality blood components within regulatory standards. You will handle storage and distribution of RBCs, platelets, and related products, while ensuring precise order processing for hospital partners.

Responsibilities include processing orders, delivering products, and performing equipment QC. Flexibility for weekend/holiday shifts and on-call coverage is required in a collaborative, fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Equivalent required
• Less than 1 year to 1–6 months related experience and/or training
• Valid Driver's License required
• Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as operating forms and manuals
• Able to organize work and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Follows procedures pertaining to the proper storage of RBCs, platelet products and frozen products
• Provides excellent customer service by communicating with hospital representatives regarding orders, addressing inquiries, and assisting with order-related needs to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment
• Receives, reviews, and processes incoming blood product and pharmacy orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment
• Picks, packs, and prepares blood products and pharmacy orders for shipment and distribution in accordance with procedures
• Delivers blood products and pharmacy orders to hospitals and other locations, ensuring safe handling and timely delivery
• Performs and documents equipment function checks and QC as required
• Maintains productivity to achieve production goals
• Works weekend, holiday rotations and on-call as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Position Summary

Under the direction of the department leadership, prepares quality biological blood components within the prescribed time following regulatory and operational standards as specified in the Standard Operating Procedures and departmental procedures.

WHEN YOU WILL WORK:

• Standard Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
• Participates in a rotational on-call schedule, including coverage before and after regular hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed
• Shift differentials: Evenings (after 6:00PM) - $1.50/hr; Weekends - $2.00/hr

Qualifications

Education

Experience

• Less than 1 year 1-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Valid Driver's License required
