Job summary

Lignetics, INC. is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor in a full-time role in an Oregon manufacturing facility. The position oversees the production crew across multiple systems and aims to produce high-quality wood pellets safely and cost-effectively.

The shift runs 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with rotating days. A background in fast-paced manufacturing and leadership is required, along with strong English communication to operate equipment and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years leadership experience, ideally in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
• Direct wood pellet manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing process trouble shooting is desirable.
• Demonstrated delegation and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to coach, train and mentor.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proficient in English for reading/writing safety commands and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Coach, lead and manage the production crew on the shift.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees on the shift and uphold the safety system.
• Set standards for housekeeping, quality and productivity on the shift.
• Monitor shift performance and coordinate improvement initiatives.
• Administer the team’s personal development program.
• Operate and oversee green infeed, dryer, hammer mill, kiln, pellet mills and related equipment.
• Keep accurate production and downtime records and operator logs.
• Monitor quality test results and correct root causes when out of spec.
• Relieve for absences and cover for vacations or illness as needed.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Production Manager.

Production Shift Supervisor Job Summary

The Shift Leader works side by side their assigned manufacturing team to coordinate the production of the highest quality wood pellet in the safest and most cost-effective manner possible.

Essential Functions

• Is the Coach, Leader and Manager of the production crew.
• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and all other employees working on their shift. This includes always maintaining an organized and safe operating environment and driving the Lignetics Safety System at the crew level.
• Responsible for setting the standards on the shift for housekeeping, quality and productivity.
• Responsible for regular monitoring of the shift performance and the communication/coordination of improvement initiatives.
• Responsible for administering the personal development program for the team.
• Responsible for the operations of the green in feed system, dryer system, dry hammer mill system, kiln dried system, pellet mills and all other associated equipment.
• Responsible for keeping accurate production and down time records, including the operator logs.
• Monitors the quality test results and corrects the root cause of any incident that is outside of their specified ranges.
• Will be qualified as relief in all positions and will cover for absences on the team such as vacation, sickness and other excused absences.
• Other tasks as directed by the Production Manager.

Production Shift Supervisor Job Requirements

• Individual must have great communication skills, be willing to flex their leadership style as needed and must be comfortable holding the team to a standard.
• Individual must be able to motivate a team.
• Individual should have continuous improvement mindset.
• 3-5 years leadership experience, ideally in a fast-paced 24/7 environment. Direct wood pellet manufacturing experience preferred.
• Prior experience in manufacturing process trouble shooting desired; demonstrated delegation and problem-solving abilities preferred.
• Ability to coach, train and mentor.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to immediately understand and react to verbal safety commands, audio alarms, and written hazard alerts in English in a Manufacturing setting.
• Proficient in English to accurately read, interpret, and execute equipment lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols and machine operation manuals.
• Sufficient English verbal skills to clearly and instantly report machine malfunctions, near-misses, or unsafe floor conditions to supervisors and team members.
• This role operates in the immediate vicinity of fast-moving, heavy automated equipment. Clear, real-time communication and strict adherence to English-language safety signage are mandatory for workplace safety.

Physical Demands

• Will need to be ready to walk / stand 80% of the time, traversing from building to building with ease.
• Will need to be ready to change positions often; Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as needed.
• Will need to be ready to visually observe, inspect equipment and surroundings.
• Will be lifting a minimum of 50 pounds regularly.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
