Job summary

AFL Telecommunications, LLC in Duncan, SC seeks a Production Scheduler I to partner with customer service, sales, manufacturing, and supply chain to fulfill orders. You will determine shipment dates for new orders and generate accurate production schedules.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Production scheduling and/or planning experience.
  • Lean, discrete, fast-paced manufacturing environment with short lead times.
  • Inventory management knowledge including finished goods and replenishment.
  • Strong Excel skills for large data set manipulation.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 order management, inventory, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of improved planning and scheduling systems within a newly established AFL business unit in a manufacturing job shop.
  • Oversee a portion of the scheduling and planning process to ensure the published line schedules reflect current operations and commitments.
  • Monitor shop floor performance to the production schedule and communicate schedule changes; work with manufacturing to adjust.
  • Manage forecast capacity reservations to meet sales commitments.
  • Coordinate schedule adjustments in response to customer changes and expediting.
  • Manage finished goods inventory replenishment to maintain inventory thresholds.
  • Use scheduling software to identify bottlenecks caused by resources, constraints, or material deliveries.
  • Collaborate with commercial sales to align capacity with customer needs including lead times.

Job Summary

The Production Scheduler I will work closely with customer service, sales, manufacturing, and supply chain to fulfill customer orders. Typical tasks include determining shipment dates for new orders, reviewing generating accurate and timely production schedules and plans, assessing order changes requests, and ensuring the optimal use of capacity, resources, and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of improved planning and scheduling systems within a newly established AFL business unit in a manufacturing job shop.
  • Oversee a portion of the scheduling and planning process to ensuring that the published line schedules are an accurate representation of the current state of the operation and its customer commitments.
  • Closely monitor shop floor performance to the production schedule each day and throughout the month. Communicate schedule upsets and areas of focus. Work with manufacturing to make schedule adjustments and recovery plans to minimize customer impact.
  • Manage forecast capacity reservations to stay within their schedule window to meet a sales commitment to a customer.
  • Coordinate schedule adjustments in response to customer change and expedite Strive to meet each request by exhausting all options.
  • Manage the finished goods inventory replenishment process to ensure designated items are available when ordered and inventory thresholds are maintained.
  • Utilize and continue development of scheduling software to proactively identify and communicate bottlenecks caused by overloaded resources, machine constraints, raw material deliveries, or other issues
  • Work closely with the commercial sales team to align capacity with customer needs including close communication on lead times.
  • Generate inputs and calculate results for the monthly sales and operations planning
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Higher education preferred but equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience
  • Production scheduling and/or planning experience
  • Held positions in production scheduling in a lean, discrete, fast-paced manufacturing environment with relatively short lead times.
  • Practical understanding of inventory management including finished goods and stock replenishment methods, cycle counting, accuracy controls, and schedule inputs.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 order management, inventory, and manufacturing related
  • Strong computer skills with a focus in Excel and ability to manipulate large data sets to obtain desired information.
