Job description

Brief Description

Hayden Industrial is seeking a Production Scheduler to support the company's integrated production planning and scheduling process. This position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating executable production schedules while ensuring planned production requirements are aligned with available work center capacity, labor, equipment, materials, and operational constraints.

The Production Scheduler will work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, Project Management, and other functions to identify constraints, resolve scheduling conflicts, and provide visibility to current and future production requirements.

The position will play a key role in maintaining a reliable production plan and identifying potential capacity and scheduling issues early enough for corrective action.

Key Responsibilities
Integrated Production Scheduling
  • Maintain detailed production schedules based on customer requirements, project priorities, production requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Maintain appropriate near-term and longer-range planning horizons.
  • Coordinate production priorities across manufacturing work centers.
  • Monitor production schedules and identify conflicts, competing priorities, and execution risks.
  • Work with Operations and Manufacturing to resolve scheduling issues and deviations from plan.
  • Maintain accurate and timely production schedules within the company's ERP/MRP system.
  • Communicate approved schedule changes and production priorities to affected departments.
  • Maintain a reliable source of truth for the current production plan.
  • Monitor schedule performance and provide visibility to significant changes or risks.
Work Center Capacity Planning
  • Maintain forward-looking capacity plans for manufacturing work centers.
  • Compare scheduled and forecasted production requirements against available labor, equipment, and work center capacity.
  • Identify current and future bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and underutilized resources.
  • Analyze work center loading and identify potential production constraints before they affect customer commitments.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Operations to develop alternatives for resolving capacity constraints.
  • Maintain standard capacity assumptions, available hours, production rates, and other planning parameters.
  • Regularly compare actual production performance against capacity-planning assumptions.
  • Provide Operations leadership with visibility into upcoming capacity requirements.
Cross-Functional Planning
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Project Management to maintain an executable production plan.
  • Participate in regular production planning and capacity review meetings.
  • Identify issues requiring cross-functional resolution and facilitate appropriate follow-up.
  • Communicate production risks, capacity constraints, and schedule changes clearly and promptly.
  • Coordinate planning priorities when customer, project, material, and capacity requirements compete.
ERP/MRP & Data Management
  • Maintain accurate production planning information within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Monitor production parameters, routings, work center information, lead times, and other data affecting production schedules.
  • Develop and maintain planning reports, dashboards, and analytical tools.
  • Support ERP improvements and process automation related to production planning.
Schedule Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze recurring causes of schedule disruption, capacity constraints, and production delays.
  • Develop and maintain planning processes, procedures, and standard work.
  • Identify opportunities to improve schedule accuracy, production flow, capacity utilization, and planning visibility.
  • Support cross-functional improvement initiatives related to production scheduling and manufacturing flow.
  • Use data to identify trends, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
Other Responsibilities
  • Support the Production & Materials Planning Manager with planning activities and special projects.
  • Provide planning analysis and reports as requested.
  • Assist with other production, materials, capacity, or supply-chain planning activities as business needs require.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience working with BOMs, routings, work orders, inventory, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing/Supply Chain, and Engineering preferred.
  • Strong data-analysis capabilities.
Preferred Experience
  • Engineer-to-order, make-to-order, or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with multi-work-center or multi-stage production environments.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP planning systems.
  • Experience with capacity modeling and constraint management.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
Skills & Competencies
