Job summary

Emergent in San Francisco is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to help build production systems that scale globally. You will work with experienced engineers across infrastructure, AI/ML, and product teams, taking ownership from design to deployment while learning distributed systems and reliability at scale.

Requirements include a fresh CS graduate, strong data structures and algorithms fundamentals, and proficiency in Python, Go, or Java.

Qualifications

• Fresh graduates with CS fundamentals.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and computer science.
• Proficiency in at least one language such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Hands-on experience through internships, academic projects, hackathons, or open-source work.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using Python and/or Go.
• Collaborate with engineers across infrastructure, AI/ML, and product teams.
• Contribute to real production systems serving users globally.
• Learn and apply distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Take ownership of meaningful projects from design to production.
