Job description

Overview

Perform basic production saw operations including reading blueprints and drawings, setting up the saw, and inspection of finished parts. Perform machine tending operations and processes; count, stage, and record finished parts.

Work from blueprints and job layouts; use rule, square and gauges. Use hand grinder and dynafile to remove weld splatter and sharp edges from metal materials. Use of Overhead Crane. Work is subject to first and final piece inspections for alignment, dimensions and aesthetic requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Read measuring tools (Tape Measures, Combination Squares)
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings
  • Utilize math skills to determine product measurement, cut, yield, and efficiency
  • Read and interpret Job Travelers and Work Instructions
  • Perform manufacturing duties to meet daily production standards of quality and quantity
  • Communicate machine downtime, shortages, scrap, and delays when applicable
  • Select and install blades and other saw attachments appropriate to the material being cut
  • Position and secure material on the table of the saw
  • Measure and mark material for cutting
  • Start saws and observe operation to detect cutting problems
  • Adjust saw settings, blade tension, and other attachments
  • Perform basic maintenance on saws, such as cleaning and lubricating
  • Knowledge of set up and operation of welding machines
  • Operate hand/air tools and electric grinders
  • Perform GMAW welding assignments to meet daily production while maintaining standards of quality and quantity
  • Enter data into computer software system
  • Accurately complete the Job Traveler paperwork
  • Clean the floor under the load table daily at specified time(s).
  • Complete daily 5S requirements.
  • Maintain records of production
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Assist in other duties as requested by trainer, manager or supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school or general education degree (GED) required
  • One year manufacturing experiencepreferred

  • Basic welding experience preferred (willing to train onsite)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence.
  • Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to stand; use hands and fingers to manipulate raw materials, finished parts and cutting tools
  • Ability to lift up to 40-60 pounds repetitively
  • Ability to lift 90 pounds occasionally with a team lift
  • Required to climb a ladder to retrieve or store parts occasionally
