Granite-Tops/Stone Countertop Outlet is seeking a Production / Shop Rover to support shop and production operations. The role focuses on fabrications, CNC prep, saw operations, hand-finishing, and material movement.

You may assist with installation tasks when needed and help keep workflows efficient across multiple production functions. The position is hands-on, cross-trained, and requires reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with CNC machine operation and setup under supervision.

• Load and unload materials for cutting and fabrication.
• Assist production staging and workflow support.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
• Assist in backsplash fabrication and operation of fastest back machine.
• Support solid surface fabrication tasks including sanding and minor repairs.

Pay:$22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Job description:

The Production / Shop Rover is a hands-on support role within shop and production operations. This position primarily works in the shop assisting with fabrication processes while learning CNC machine operation, saw operation, and hand-finishing techniques. The Rover supports material movement and staging to keep production running efficiently and provides installation assistance when needed.

This role is designed to be flexible and cross-trained, supporting multiple production functions as workloads require.

Duties and responsibilities

Shop & Production Support (Primary Focus)

• Assist with CNC machine operation and setup under supervision.
• Operate saw machines and other shop equipment as trained.
• Perform hand polishing, finishing, and basic fabrication tasks.
• Load and unload materials for cutting and fabrication.
• Assist with production staging and workflow support.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
• Assist in the backsplash department, including fabrication and operation of the Fastback machine.
• Support solid surface fabrication tasks, including sanding, seaming preparation, polishing, and minor repairs.

Material Handling & Receiving

• Move and stage slab material and other materials within the shop.
• Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming materials.
• Support accurate organization of slabs, remnants, and supplies.
• Assist with inventory counts as needed.
• Operate forklifts or overhead cranes if trained and authorized.

Installation Support (As Needed)

• Assist installation crews on job sites when required.
• Help load materials, tools, and equipment for installations.
• Install small pieces and backsplashes as trained.
• Drill holes and assist with sink or appliance mounting under supervision.
• Represent the company professionally on job sites.

General Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Adhere to all company policies outlined in the employee handbook.
• Provide basic customer service support when interacting with customers or vendors.
• Assist other production areas as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely around machinery.
• Employment is contingent upon completion of a background check and review of results in accordance with applicable state and federal law.
• Ability to meet DOT requirements when assigned to installation duties.

Preferred:

• Previous shop, manufacturing, or material handling experience
• Forklift or overhead crane experience or certification.
• Experience in stone fabrication or related industries

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fabrication equipment.
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in multiple environments, including shop, warehouse, outdoor areas, and occasional job sites. This position may require travel to and from warehouses and job locations. Exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and variable temperatures may occur.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and heavier weights with assistance.
• Ability to safely work around shop equipment and materials.
