Job summary

Gear Wash, a full-service provider of PPE care and maintenance and a subsidiary of Fire-Dex, seeks Production Repair Associates in Dallas, TX. You will repair firefighter uniforms and turnout gear using industrial sewing equipment to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance for first responders.

The role requires experience in garment repair or industrial sewing, comfort with heavy fabrics, and a dedication to quality, safety, and punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• Experience in garment repair, tailoring, or industrial sewing; protective gear experience a plus.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty fabrics such as Kevlar or Nomex.
• Ability to read and interpret repair instructions and measurements using math.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines and tools for stitching, patching, hemming, and reinforcing.
• Ensure repairs meet safety standards and department specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and alterations.
• Collaborate with department staff to prioritize urgent repairs and manage workflow.
• Assist with inventory management of uniforms and repair supplies.
• Assist with other duties as needed and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs and alterations on firefighter uniforms, including turnout gear.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in garment repair, tailoring, or industrial sewing (experience with protective gear is a plus).
• Familiarity with heavy-duty fabrics and materials such as Kevlar, Nomex, or similar.
• Ability to read and interpret repair instructions, measurements, and specifications using math skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and following safety standards.
• Efficient with prioritizing and multi-tasking, including being productive while handling re-directions and interruptions based upon organizational needs
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a solution focused mindset
• Self-motivated with a desire to work hard to meet goals
