Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a production operator in Scranton to unload and wash trailers, monitor cookers, and maintain a clean, safe plant environment. You will load trucks, keep records, and perform routine equipment checks, with opportunities to assist maintenance as needed.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 60 pounds, and working shifts A–D. A forklift or skid-steer may be needed, and basic tools/computer skills are helpful.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical/maintenance skills listed in work history or on the application

• Must pass urinalysis screening as part of post-offer health assessment
• Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical tasks

Pay Range: $18.95 - $25.80 Shift Pay: $2.00 or $3.00 shift differential possible

• Perform various positions as required/assigned

Description

This position is responsible for the production operation and will unload and wash all trailers, tankers and reefers, monitor cookers and soap and wash all areas of the plant. Load trucks, maintain the control room and complete accurate paperwork. Check lubrication on machinery, change oil and belts on gear boxes, perform equipment PM and auger inspections. Will assist maintenance when needed while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

This position requires:standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 60 pounds, shoveling, climbing stairs and ladders up to 30 feet, bending, stretching, reaching, working in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.

Maintain clean work area by use of soap and high-pressure water hose with 30 pounds of pressure or more.

Will be required to obtain the certification and operate a forklift or skid-steer loader.

Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance skills such has mechanical troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting, welding/fabrication, wiring, motor controls, and conveyor maintenance.

Must have basic computer skills.

Must have the ability to read and understand policies, procedures and regulations.

Must have the ability to document information.

Must have the ability to communicate with others written and verbally.

Shift Schedule

A Crew - Sunday - Tuesday 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday 6:00 a.m. - 12 noon

B Crew - Sunday - Tuesday 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Wednesday 6:00 p.m. - 12 midnight

C Crew - Wednesday 12 noon - 6:00 p.m., Thursday - Saturday 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

D Crew - Wednesday 12 midnight - 6:00 a.m., Thursday - Saturday 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
