Job summary

International Paper is seeking a Production Relief Supervisor at the Mount Vernon Box Facility to oversee daily corrugated board production and lead a team across all three shifts. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork, with responsibilities spanning training, performance evaluation, and interdepartmental communication.

You will promote safety and quality initiatives, coach staff, and ensure efficient operations while maintaining compliance with company programs.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Corrugated packaging industry experience required.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills required.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to work all three shifts, including weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees in the daily production of corrugated board.
• Train, plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; enforce safety and quality standards.
• Communicate operational information clearly to crew, other supervisors, plant management, and external contacts.
• Promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company programs.
• Provide training on topics such as safety, machine setup, QMS, and PIT operations.

Position Title: Production Relief Supervisor

Pay Rate: $69,500 - $92,600

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform

• Supervise employees in the daily production of corrugated board, to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; promoting safety, quality production and teamwork; resolving conflicts.
• Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment, and a quality product.
• Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels: crew members, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel and outside customers and vendors.
• Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
• Perform individual, team, and small group training on specific subjects selected by the Site Manager or PIM. Topics include but are not limited to safety, machine set up, QMS, machine operation, and PIT operation. Complete related training documentation.
• Other Duties as assigned

The Skills You Will Bring

• One to two years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Prior experience in the corrugated packaging industry required.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must be willing to work all three shifts and some weekends as needed to cover other supervisors’ vacations and absences.
