Job summary

Alpitronic is seeking a Production Quality Specialist to sharpen expertise across all subcomponents, ensuring design intent and system architecture are fully understood and maintained.

The role focuses on quality control, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve processes and prevent defects in a high-tech EV charging environment.

Qualifications

• BS/AS in Electrical Engineering or technical discipline required.
• 3+ years in quality manufacturing to ISO 9001 standards or 5+ years in PCB/assembly industry.
• Analytical and statistical reporting skills are an asset.
• Familiarity with IPC-610 class 2 requirements is preferred.
• Quality auditing or ISO 9001 certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep product knowledge of all subcomponents, design and specifications.

Job Summary:

The Production Quality Specialist will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the product including all subcomponents. This includes knowledge of its design, features, specifications, and how it functions. Our product offers breakthrough technology in the EV Charging space and requires deep knowledge in power electronics, rectifier and inverter applications, relays, circuit protection and overall systems architecture and integrated product functionality.

What You'll Do

• Product Knowledge: The product expert must have an in-depth understanding of the product including all subcomponents. This includes knowledge of its design, features, specifications, and how it functions.

• Quality Control: Ensuring that the product meets the required quality standards is a primary responsibility. This involves monitoring the production process, conducting quality checks, and implementing quality control measures to prevent defects or deviations. Skills in control plans, FMEA, 5-WHY, 8-D and other quality and lean tools – with experience in power electronic solutions.

  Problem Solving: Actively identifying and solving production-related problems. This may involve root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and preventing similar issues in the future. Problem solving expertise should span electronic components, boards and electromechanical systems like fuses, breakers etc. but also a systems level root cause analysis expertise that links product performance and the sub systems.

• Process Improvement: Continuously looking for ways to improve the production process – driving cycles of improvement from predictive studies as well as preventive measures from resolving issues. This might involve optimizing workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

• Technical Support: Providing technical guidance and support to production teams. Serve as the primary technical link between production, design engineering and supplier quality as necessary. When issues or challenges arise during production, the product expert should be able to troubleshoot and provide solutions. Systems level trouble shooting integrating electromechanical, power electronics and software interdependencies in a production environment. Ability to trace root cause to process, supplier or design and detail remedies.

• Documentation: Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to production processes, quality control, and any changes or improvements made. This documentation is critical for traceability and future reference.

• Training: Conducting training sessions for production staff to ensure they understand the product and the best practices for manufacturing it. This can help reduce errors and improve overall product quality.

• Communication: Maintaining open communication with various stakeholders, including engineering teams, production managers, suppliers, and quality assurance personnel. Effective communication is essential to address issues and keep everyone aligned.

• Safety: Prioritizing safety in the production environment. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and taking steps to mitigate them.

• Product Testing and Validation: Overseeing product testing and validation processes to ensure that the final product meets performance and safety standards.

• Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as product development, engineering, and supply chain, to ensure a seamless transition of the manufacturing to the US.

What We're Looking For

• BS/AS in Electrical Engineering or technical discipline
• 3+ years in Quality manufacturing to ISO 9001 standards or minimum 5 years’ experience in the printed circuit / assembly industry – with current relevant work experience
• Analytical & Statistical creation and Reporting, an asset
• Working knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-610 class 2 requirements), asset
• Certification in Quality Engineering Auditing experience or certification to ISO 9001, an asset
• Certification in Quality Engineering, an asset
• Quality manufacturing support experience at the Assembly & PCB level, an asset
• Certified Internal Auditor, an asset.
• Ability to train and develop the production team in best practice and quality inspection technique.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong Microsoft Office application skills, including Excel and Word, PowerPoint, Minitab.
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
