Job summary

Nordson Corporation is seeking a Production Planner in Clinton, SC to plan and maintain material levels, support the production schedule, and optimize inventory and delivery performance. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of work experience, or 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • APICS Certification is preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze MRP reports and take appropriate action.
  • Create and release production orders daily to meet the production plan and delivery dates.
  • Create daily purchase requisitions to meet the production plan and delivery dates.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams on upcoming work and material availability issues.
  • Schedule and reschedule production orders to mitigate changes.
  • Plan new product materials and schedules.
  • Use SAP to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Modify safety stock as required.
  • Analyze lead-time and lot size continuously.
  • Level load work centers and communicate load conditions to shop floor supervisors and manager.
  • Escalate material short issues to Supply Chain Consumption and forecast KPI calculations.

Summary of the role

The Production Planner is responsible for planning and maintaining appropriate material levels to support the production schedule and meet customer‑requested delivery dates. This role coordinates the introduction of new products into the factory and schedules production orders to achieve optimal levels of customer service, inventory efficiency, and asset utilization. The Production Planner also provides consumption and forecast analysis for their assigned area and uses this data to optimize inventory levels and key delivery performance metrics.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyze MRP reports and take appropriate action.
  • Create and release production orders on a daily basis to achieve the production plan and customers requested delivery date.
  • Create purchase requisitions on a daily basis to achieve the production plan and to meet our customers requested delivery date.
  • Interaction and feedback with engineering and production teams on upcoming work and potential issues due to material availability.
  • Schedule and re-schedule production orders to mitigate changes.
  • Plan new product materials and schedules.
  • Perform required functions within SAP to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Modify safety stock as required.
  • Analyze on a continuous basis the product lead-time, lot size.
  • Level load the work centers whenever possible, communicate under/over load conditions to the shop floor supervisors and manager.
  • Based on current build schedule, escalation material short issues to Supply Chain Consumption and forecast analysis Management and calculation of KPI’s
Education & Experience Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of work experience required.
  • If no degree, 10 years of relevant work experience required.
  • APICS Certification preferred.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • SAP experience required.
  • Manufacturing work experience required.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Microsoft Office advanced skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
