Job description

For our state-of-the-art 600+ person cheese and whey manufacturing facility in Lubbock, TX, Leprino is seeking a Production Planner. We take pride in our vision to be the "world's best." It's why we work harder, invest more, and continually innovate.


Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 billion facility in summer 2022. The plant will become operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.


Summary Description:


The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for creating accurate and timely production schedules and product management instructions to ensure the availability of finished goods to meet customer orders or for shipment to other facilities. This role manages raw materials, pallet inventories, work orders, and scheduling reprocessed products, ensuring incoming milk and packaging materials meet guidelines and outgoing products are directed appropriately.


  • Forecast sales using systems, establish safety stocks, minimum production levels, and lead times for the plant's products to serve customer orders.
  • Ensure sufficient supplies of milk for production and that customer orders are fulfilled within service requirements.
  • Optimize production planning amidst changing shipping requirements, ensuring the availability of finished goods upon customer demand.
  • Partner with plant production teams to determine product blending and scheduling to maximize profitability and facilitate product transitions.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of raw and packaging materials to meet production needs.
  • Monitor raw and packaging material integrity and identify potential receipt issues.
  • Implement effective inventory rotation processes.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Product Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, production planning, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Technical background in food technology, food science, dairy science, microbiology, or chemistry.
  • Dairy or cheese manufacturing experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
