Providing award-winning service and support since 1990, RENA NA has a commitment to outstanding customer service and its standard catalog and cutting edge products.

Role Summary:

The Production Planner II is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules to support customer delivery requirements, manufacturing priorities, and material availability. This mid-level role coordinates closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Shipping, and other cross-functional teams to ensure materials and production activities are aligned with project requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust detailed production schedules based on customer requirements, engineering releases, MRP, material availability, manufacturing capacity, and current priorities.
  • Monitor production schedules and work order progress daily, identifying activities at risk of impacting project or customer delivery dates.
  • Review MRP requirement dates; analyze inventory, open purchase orders, supplier lead times, and shortages to identify risks to production and customer commitments.
  • Prepare and communicate shortage reports; identify critical shortages and coordinate with Procurement and stakeholders to expedite materials and resolve issues.
  • Monitor supplier delivery commitments and communicate material-related schedule risks and changes to Procurement and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate material readiness and kitting activities, including identifying shortages preventing kits from being completed.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Engineering, Shipping, and other departments to align material and production activities with project priorities.
  • Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, material constraints, and project risks to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Monitor work order release, progress, completion, and closure to ensure production activities are executed according to schedule and ERP information remains accurate.
  • Review BOMs and ERP information to identify discrepancies affecting material requirements or production schedules.
  • Support engineering changes, new product requirements, and project changes in production schedules while minimizing disruption to manufacturing.
  • Track and report planning and production KPIs, including on-time delivery, schedule adherence, past-due work orders, material shortages, and project schedule performance.
  • Identify recurring scheduling, material, and process issues and recommend improvements to increase schedule reliability and material flow.
  • Maintain accurate planning information in the ERP/MRP system, including production dates and material requirements.
  • Assist with planning reports, dashboards, and other tools used to monitor production and material status.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of Planner I or junior planning personnel as needed.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent coursework in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials coordination, manufacturing operations or a combination of the above.
  • Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment involving complex assemblies or high-mix, low-volume production is desired.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of production scheduling, material planning, and shop floor control processes.
  • Comfortable interpreting BOMs, routings, and work instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to use data to drive decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective cross-functional communicator with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Capable of identifying and mitigating schedule risks and material constraints.
  • Familiarity with key planning metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, schedule adherence, WIP aging).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or working toward certification.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPIs) and engineering changes (ECOs).
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom or regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., medical device, biotech, or lab tools).

Other Requirements:

Must be able to work in a highly functioning team environment. Display the highest levels of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Take pride in your work and in the company.
