Job description

About Slate

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize, and love—all here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization.

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive, high‑energy Production Scheduler to serve as the heartbeat of our automotive manufacturing operations. You will create and maintain production schedules that balance customer demand, equipment capacity, and material availability, while coordinating closely with all levels of the organization.

Work Authorization

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain a rolling production schedule that satisfies OEM requirements and service demands. Act as the primary bridge between Production Control, Manufacturing, and Service. Anticipate bottlenecks and develop PlanB scenarios. Lead daily "Tiers" or production stand‑up meetings.
  • Work Order Management & Systems Execution: Issue and manage Work Orders through the ERP/MES system (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Plex, Fuuz). Monitor production progress in real time and adjust schedules dynamically for machine downtime, quality holds, or material shortages. Build offline Excel models, pivot tables, and trackers for complex problem solving.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Communication: Interface with the organization at all levels—from shop‑floor operators to senior leadership. Collaborate with Material Planning to support the supply chain, and with Quality and Engineering to schedule trials, new product introductions, and engineering change crossovers without disrupting shipments.
  • Demand & Capacity Optimization: Analyze historical performance data and OEE to refine scheduling logic and improve lead‑time accuracy. Manage run‑out and ramp‑up schedules for obsolete parts and new model‑year launches.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce changeover times and optimize batch sizes using lean scheduling principles. Conduct root‑cause analysis on missed production targets and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Three to six years of production scheduling or masterplanning experience in a high‑volume automotive or Tier‑1 supplier environment.
  • Required Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle/NetSuite, Plex, FuuZ). Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization). Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced, high‑pressure shop‑floor environment.
  • Preferred Skills: Deep understanding of Just‑in‑Time (JIT) and Just‑in‑Sequence (JIS) delivery models. Experience with AIAG standards, labeling, and shipping requirements. Familiarity with Theory of Constraints (ToC) and scheduling around bottlenecks. Proven ability to remain calm and analytical when production priorities shift mid‑shift.
Salary Range

Base Pay Range (Annual): $89,517.00 – $134,275.00 USD.
