Job summary

Elite Staffing is seeking a Production Planner to maintain an accurate production schedule and ensure shop orders align with material availability, capacity, and customer priorities.

You will coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to keep commitments feasible and communicated. Strong ERP/MRP knowledge plus proficiency in Excel and Power BI are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing planning or supply chain planning.
• Strong understanding of MRP, BOM structure and routings.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel/BI tools.

Production Planner

The Production Planner is responsible for maintaining an accurate production schedule within IFS for finished goods and manufactured subassemblies. This position ensures shop orders are scheduled based on material availability, manufacturing capacity, and customer priorities.

The planner proactively identifies shortages and scheduling risks, works closely with Purchasing to obtain accurate supplier delivery dates, adjusts production schedules when required, and communicates schedule impacts to Customer Service and Project Management.

The planner serves as the central coordination point between Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Shipping to ensure customer commitments remain realistic and achievable.

Primary Responsibilities

Production Planning

• Create and maintain production schedule within IFS
• Schedule top level and subassemblies shop orders
• Review shop orders for readiness to ensure all components and documentation are available before release
• Release and maintain shop order dates and statuses
• Monitor shop order progress
• Monitor production labor capacity
• Coordinate with Customer Service for date changes and status updates
• Review completed shop order performance to ensure routings times and steps are accurate

Material Planning

• Create and maintain material shortage reports
• Coordinate with Purchasing on supplier dates and commitments
• Recommend alternate components and coordinate with Engineering for substitutions
• Identify recurring part shortages or supplier delivery issues

Daily Tasks

• Review customer order priorities, overdue shop orders, and shortage reports
• Update shop order dates
• Attend production meetings
• Notify Customer Service of delivery impacts
• Review work center loading

Weekly Tasks

• Review all upcoming customer orders
• Analyze work center capacity
• Analyze supplier performance and component shortages
• Update Sales with product line lead times

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Tier 1 ERP experience, IFS preferred
• ERP production planning experience
• Understanding of MRP, BOM structure, routings
• Data analysis, Microsoft Excel, Power BI
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly

Soft Skills

• Ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Problem solving / decision making

Additional Skills

• APCIS CPIM Certification
• Lean Manufacturing

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing planning
• ERP / MRP planning
