Job description

Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain a daily production schedule that meets customer demand while optimizing efficiency, freshness, and product quality. Continuously refine production and material schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and available equipment, labor, and materials.

· Communicate schedule changes, special production runs, and maintenance activities to work teams and operations. Collaborate daily with shop floor management to address production issues and relay information from Manufacturing and Customer Service.

· Monitor and track production metrics, including daily actual vs. planned performance. Analyze deviations, identify root causes, and implement recovery plans to ensure consistent inventory levels and uninterrupted operations.

· Maintain and analyze capacity planning reports, identifying trends and scenarios to support strategic planning decisions.

· Use data-driven insights to support raw material supply planning and meet finished goods demand. Ensure schedule-related data from suppliers, production, and maintenance is captured and fed back into planning systems.

· Drive process improvements in planning efficiency, resource utilization, and production throughput by evaluating and recommending enhancements.

· Manage inventory strategy, factoring in item criticality, forecast accuracy, service levels, lead times, Min/Max levels, and EOQs. Ensure timely and accurate ordering of materials, including expediting or delaying orders as needed.

· Collaborate closely with procurement to confirm material availability and support production requirements.

· Manage the planning relationship with Caribou Coffee, including forecast updates, order fulfillment, and limited-time offer (LTO) coordination.

· Utilize planning and reporting tools such as Microsoft D365, Power BI, and Logility to create and manage production schedules.

· Coordinate production planning efforts for the Minnesota roasting plant in partnership with the central demand planning team.

· Present production schedules and forecasts to plant leadership to align operations with business objectives.

· Perform additional duties as assigned, at varying levels of complexity, as needed.

Qualifications:

· 2–5 years of experience in production planning and scheduling.

· At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.

· College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

· Experience with capacity planning and trend-based forecasting.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experienced with ERP and planning systems such as Microsoft D365, Power BI, and Logility.

· Familiarity with production scheduling and inventory planning tools strongly preferred.

· Experience with inventory management or supply chain coordination.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective collaborator and team player.

· Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.

· Self-directed and analytical, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Ability to interpret operational data and take action based on performance metrics.

The target hourly range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
