The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production plans and schedules that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, inventory requirements, and businesspriorities. This role owns assigned production scheduling and SAP Production Planning (PP) processes and workscross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Forecasting, Purchasing, and other teams to support efficient productionand customer requirements. The Production Planner analyzes demand, capacity, inventory, and material availability to identify potential constraints, resolve planning issues, and recommend adjustments to production schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts, inventory levels,material availability, manufacturing capacity, and business priorities.
- Create, release, maintain, and monitor production orders within SAP.
- Execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP), analyze system-generated exceptions, and takeappropriate action to address planning requirements.
- Monitor material availability and identify shortages or constraints that may impact production schedules orcustomer requirements.
- Evaluate manufacturing capacity and production constraints and recommend scheduling adjustments asneeded.
- Monitor production progress against established schedules and proactively address delays, priority changes,shortages, or other issues impacting planned completion dates.
- Coordinate with Operations, Sales, Forecasting, Purchasing, Warehouse, and other functional teams toalign production priorities and resolve planning issues.
- Maintain accurate SAP PP master data and planning parameters necessary to support effective MRP andproduction scheduling.
- Analyze production, inventory, demand, and planning data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities forimprovement.
- Communicate production status, material shortages, capacity constraints, schedule risks, and othersignificant planning issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning, scheduling, inventorymanagement, SAP processes, and operational efficiency.
- Support new product introductions, customer transitions, operational changes, and other projects requiringproduction planning or scheduling expertise.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics,or related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics,or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in production planning, manufacturing planning, materialsplanning, scheduling, supply chain, or a related operations function.
- Experience with SAP Production Planning (PP) or a comparable ERP/MRP planning system required.
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, MRP, inventory management, materialavailability, and capacity planning concepts.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and develop reports to support planningdecisions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to independently evaluate planning requirements, identify risks, and make or recommend schedulingadjustments within established business parameters.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining accurate planning and system data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiplefunctional areas.
