Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in production planning or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain and Customer Service.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and basic data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily material shortages and ERP reports to identify gating shortages for open production orders.
  • Analyze component availability and lead times to set realistic start and completion dates.
  • Allocate and reallocate material across orders based on priorities and capacity, escalating tradeoffs when needed.
  • Coordinate with Procurement to expedite or substitute components for shortages.
  • Maintain accurate job order notes in the ERP, including shortages and constraints.
  • Track and report which jobs are fully material clear vs blocked by shortages to production managers.
  • Support sequencing and leveling of build schedules to respect capacity constraints.
  • Adjust production order dates as material and capacity change, and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular operations meetings to review shortages and mitigation plans.

Bay Advanced Technologies, an Applied Fluid Power subsidiary, is currently looking for a Production Planner to join our team in Austin, TX. If you’re outgoing, technically sound, and think you have what it takes –

Role Summary
  • The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring production orders are material clear, realistically scheduled, and completed on or before their committed due dates.
  • This role bridges Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to proactively manage material shortages, allocate and reallocate inventory, and maintain accurate dates on production orders in the ERP.
  • The planner will help move the organization from reactive expediting to proactive planning, supporting business growth and improved on-time delivery performance.
Core Job Responsibilities
  • Review daily material shortage and exception reports in the ERP to identify gating shortages for open production orders and upcoming jobs.
  • Analyze component availability and lead times to determine realistic start and completion dates for production orders, updating job dates in the ERP accordingly.
  • Allocate and reallocate material across production orders based on priorities, customer commitments, and production capacity, escalating tradeoffs when required.
  • Partner with Procurement to expedite, reschedule, or substitute components for jobs with material shortages, ensuring clear priorities for buyers and planners.
  • Coordinate with internal manufacturing (FM/planners) or internal sub-assembly teams on make items that are constraining production orders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date job order notes in the ERP, including shortage status, planned completion date, and key assumptions or constraints.
  • Track and report which jobs are fully killed and material clear versus those blocked by shortages, providing clear visibility to production managers.
  • Support production managers in sequencing and leveling the build schedule, ensuring that material-ready jobs are prioritized and capacity constraints are respected.
  • Monitor and adjust production order dates as material and capacity situations change, communicating impacts on delivery dates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular operations / production meetings to review current shortages, upcoming risks, and mitigation plans.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience as production planner or similar position in our industry
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
