Job summary

Farmers Union Industries, LLC in Redwood Falls, MN is seeking a 3rd shift Production Operator to transform raw materials into high‑quality pet food ingredients. You will operate production equipment, inspect materials, and move trailers and materials around the facility.

The starting wage is $24.97 per hour with night and weekend differential and regular pay increases. Benefits include health, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays and a strong 401K match.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in basic math; able to record information accurately and legibly.
  • Experience in food/feed production is a plus.
  • Preventive maintenance and repair skills are desirable.
  • Experience backing up trailers or operating a skid steer and forklift is preferred.
  • Able to read and understand signs, labels, warnings and manuals.
  • Capable of staying organized in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment to transform raw materials into a high-quality pet food ingredient.
  • Inspect raw and finished materials using equipment and senses to ensure quality.
  • Move materials with skid steers or forklifts and manage trailer unloading.
  • Complete paperwork for each loaded/unloaded trailer and record data accurately.

Schedule 3rd Shift: Monday-Friday, 12:00am (midnight)-8:00am

Additional hours may be possible during the week or the weekend, on a voluntary or required basis.

Areas of Accountability

  • Operate production equipment to transform raw materials into a high-quality pet food ingredient
  • Continuously inspect raw and finished materials using FOSS machines and/or visual and olfactory senses to ensure product quality
  • Operate skid‑steers or forklifts to move large materials and equipment
  • Operate automatic yard trucks to move raw material trailers to unloading bays for processing
  • Assist in unloading and loading raw materials and finished product
  • Inspect trailers for usability and notify Complex Manager if repairs are needed.
  • Greet external truck drivers and direct and assist them in backing up and unloading their trailers
  • Complete paperwork for each loaded and unloaded trailer
  • Accurately record data and complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner; determine and report inconsistencies
  • Clean, foam, use pressure hoses, and sanitize work area, equipment, tools, and totes
  • Squeegee excess water from the production floor and shovel waste materials into garbage
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance duties including switching out hydraulic lines, grinder blades, etc.; report major repair needs to maintenance and/or Complex Manager
  • Learn and follow all standard operating procedures for processing, sanitation, safety, and quality
  • Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives
  • Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety
  • Report any concerns, accidents, downtime, or cost‑saving measures to Complex Manager, as needed
  • Maintain positive relationships with others and assist other production or maintenance personnel, as necessary
  • Perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean work environment, as needed
  • Maintain regular and predictable on‑site attendance
Qualifications
  • Proficient in basic math skills; accurately and legibly record information
  • Experience in food/feed production, a plus
  • Preventative maintenance and repair skills, desired
  • Experience in backing up trailers or operating a skid steer and forklift, preferred
  • Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, directions, and operator manuals
  • Ability to maintain composed and organized in a fast‑paced environment
  • Work in a facility that processes multiple species including cows, pigs, and poultry
  • Willingness and ability to work extra hours as needed during the week or weekend
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes
Physical Requirements
  • Consistently lift up to 50 pounds from waist level to/from floor; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
  • Consistently push and/or pull heavy objects
  • Consistently bend at the waist and/or knees

  • Operar equipos de producción para transformar materias primas en ingredientes de alta calidad para alimentos para mascotas
  • Inspeccionar continuamente las materias primas y terminadas utilizando máquinas FOSS y/o el sentido visual y olfativo para garantizar la calidad del producto
  • Operar minicargadoras o montacargas para mover materiales y equipos de gran tamaño
  • Operar camiones de patio automáticos para trasladar remolques de materia prima a las plataformas de descarga para su procesamiento
  • Asistir en la descarga y carga de materias primas y producto terminado
  • Inspeccionar los remolques para verificar su correcto funcionamiento y notificar al gerente del complejo si se necesitan reparaciones
