Job summary

CoorsTek, Inc. in East Granby, CT, is seeking a Production Operator II - Swing to join our advanced ceramics manufacturing team.

You will operate multiple basic production machines or one complex piece of equipment, perform quality checks, and document production data in company software systems. This role requires attention to detail, basic math and measurement skills, and the ability to work a 2:00pm–10:00pm shift, with potential training on the day shift for 4–6 weeks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math and measurement skills required.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools is a plus.
  • Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple machines or a single complex equipment to follow work orders and quality specs.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed while maintaining quality.
  • Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers and other gauges to ensure conformance.
  • Record production data and move parts to the next operation using company software.
  • Load, unload, and handle materials safely throughout manufacturing.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow start-up/shutdown procedures.

Job Title

Production Operator II - Swing

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Operate multiple basic production machines and/or a single complex, technical production equipment to manufacture parts in compliance with work order instructions and quality requirements.; makes machine adjustments and contacts appropriate person when needed
  • Monitor machine performance and product quality while making basic process adjustments as required.
  • Inspects parts to determine if product meets quality/ customer specifications by performing dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, laser micrometers, drop gauges, and calipers
  • Verify product conformance to customer and quality specifications and take appropriate action when non-conforming material is identified.
  • Record production information and transfer parts to the next operation through company software systems.
  • Load, unload, wash, and handle materials and products throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Transfers parts to next process via computer software
  • Manage multiple machines and processes simultaneously while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Follow established operating procedures for machine start-up, operation, monitoring, and shutdown.
  • Handle oils, cleaning agents, solvents, and other process materials in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Transport product using hand trucks, forklifts, cranes, or hoists as required.
  • Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Trains incoming operators on processes and procedures
  • Wears required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where mandatory
  • Communicate quality concerns, process deviations, and equipment issues to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous production flow and departmental objectives while maintaining attention to detail and product quality
Shift
  • Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:00pm EST
  • May train on day shift for 4 - 6 weeks
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not necessary
Experience
  • Minimum of six (6) months manufacturing, production, assembly, machine operation, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Stable work history demonstrating reliability and attendance strongly preferred.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understand and act on verbal and/or written instructions
  • Read/interpret standard and metric measurements to extremely tight tolerances
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, laser micrometers, drop gauges, and calipers.
  • Ability to work with positive and negative numbers, decimals, and basic mathematical calculations.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn manufacturing software systems such as Apriso and SAP.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions.
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Assess product quality deficiencies to determine disposition; reporting to appropriate person
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around industrial production equipment.
  • Ability to safely work in an environment involving oils, solvents, degreasers, and other manufacturing materials.
  • Ability to multitask and monitor several machines or processes simultaneously.
  • Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior machine operation or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment.
  • Experience working in a production environment with tight tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Experience in automotive, industrial manufacturing, metalworking, machining, assembly, or similar light-to-medium industrial environments.
Target Hiring Range

Hourly: USD 17.97 - USD 21.64
