Job summary

Plymouth Tube Company – Trent is seeking a production operator to operate department equipment safely and efficiently, following established procedures and quality standards.

You will participate in continuous improvement activities, monitor production plans for on-time delivery, and uphold environmental and safety policies while maintaining housekeeping and accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred. Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Powered Industrial Equipment Certification is required or preferred.
  • Ability to read measurements and use basic computer tools (calipers, Windows, MS Office).

Responsibilities

  • Operate department equipment: Stretcher, Saws, Blaster, Sander Furnace, Pickling Area, Bump Presses, and Inspection, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and maintain Plymouth Tube housekeeping standards.
  • Review/record component data when needed.
  • Execute the production plan to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
  • Update Production Supervisor and/or Lead Operator on employee, quality, production and safety issues.
  • Inspect and inventory site-generated hazardous waste staging areas.
  • Assist transfer of site-generated hazardous waste to on-site staging areas.
  • Direct storage of site-generated hazardous waste in the hazardous waste staging areas.
  • Conduct inspections of Satellite Accumulation Areas.
  • Own and role model Plymouth Tube values and behaviors toward a culture of involvement, communication, trust, respect, accountability, and excellence.
  • Understand, apply and advocate all Environmental, Safety, and Quality policies and standards.
  • Attend prerequisite training as required by management.
  • Have authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems and notify supervisors when noncompliances occur.

  1. Ability to operate department equipment: Stretcher, Saws, Blaster, Sander Furnace, Pickling Area, Bump Presses, and Inspection, in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Participates in Continuous Improvement activities and maintains Plymouth Tube Housekeeping Standards.
  3. Reviews/records component data, when needed.

  5. Updates Production Supervisor and/or Lead Operatoron employee, quality, production and safety issues.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and stored energy in the form of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and gravitational energy. Due to manufacturing technologies utilized in the area common contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, oil steel chips and water will be present. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Also may be exposed to fumes or dust.

Please Note: This position involves working in close proximity on a regular basis to elevated magnetic fields, during performance of essential functions.These elevated magnetic fields are associated with certain equipment, including Billet Heaters and Hot Stretchers.These magnetic field strengths exceed safe thresholds for pacemaker and implanted defibrillator (ICD) medical devices, and may cause serious device malfunction.
