Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. seeks a General Operator to operate industrial equipment and help manufacture our fiber cement products. You’ll work on day or night shifts, with a focus on safety and quality while contributing to a strong team environment.

The role emphasizes learning new processes, adhering to safety policies, and continuous improvement within a progressive certification program that supports growth and skill development.

Qualifications

• 1 year of manufacturing or large machinery experience preferred.
• Understand safety policies to support a Zero Harm culture.
• Proven track record of learning, growth, and reliability.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods daily.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and handle moderate physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain industrial equipment and machinery.
• Learn to manufacture a wide variety of products.
• Report safety, quality and mechanical issues to leads.
• Assist with down day cleaning, wash-ups, and housekeeping.
• Perform product adherence checks to ensure quality.
• Operate forklifts and handle loading/unloading of products.

This position is eligible for a $2250.00 sign‑on bonus!

$1000.00 after 1 year of employment

Hours: 12‑hour shifts

Day Shift - 7 am to 7 pm

Night Shift 7 pm to 7 am

The Generalist Operator is an integral member of the James Hardie manufacturing team, you will be responsible for operating industrial scale machinery to convert raw materials into a finished product, while working with other team members to produce high‑quality fiber cement building products.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate and maintain industrial equipment and machinery
• Learn how to make and manufacture our wide variety of innovative products
• Communicate all pertinent information regarding safety, quality, and mechanical issues to designated leads.
• Assist in the efforts of down day machine cleaning, wash-ups, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Perform product adherence checks to maintain our quality standards
• Operate forklifts, loading and unloading of product, stagging of product

What You’ll Bring:

• Ideally a minimum of 1-year experience in manufacturing, or working with large machinery and equipment
• Ability to demonstrate past success related to manufacturing, or a business support crew environment
• Understanding of safety policies to drive a best in class Zero Harm Culture
• Solid work history of learning, job growth and achievements
• Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit
• Ability to lift up to 10lbs frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to bend, climb ladder & stairs
• Flexibility of schedules
