Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Altavista, VA, is seeking a Sr Production Equipment Operator to join the Nutrition Manufacturing team. The role operates day shifts (6am–6:30pm rotating) at the Altavista plant, handling high-speed equipment to produce nutrition products like Similac, PediaSure and Pedialyte.

The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and adherence to FDA/OSHA policies while maintaining supply for continuous production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months manufacturing experience preferred.
• Proficiency in basic math and strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, clean and help maintain production equipment, including high-speed lines.
• Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation.
• Ensure an adequate supply of materials for the equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
• Ensure proper identification, codes and expiration dates for products and materials.
• Perform online visual quality inspections and offline quality tests.
• Meet compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies.

What You’ll Work On

• Safely operate, clean and help maintain the production related equipment both complex and standard high-speed production equipment that makes our industry-leading nutrition products
• Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation
• Maintain an adequate supply of materials for the equipment in operation
• Troubleshoot equipment issues
• Ensure that both products and materials are of proper identification, correct codes and expiration dates.
• Perform periodic on-line visual quality inspections and offline quality tests
• You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Shift

This is for the day shift. Example of shift:

Shift Hours: 6am to 6:30 pm, on a rotating basis.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

• 6 months prior manufacturing experience
• Proficiency in basic math, good verbal and written communication skills

The base pay for this position is $17.15 – $34.25 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
