Job Description

Hyundai Mobis will assemble battery packs using cells from the battery factory, then supply them to the Hyundai Motor Group's US EV factory, where it will produce Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis EV models.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • New Production Operators will be trained to follow the battery cell manufacturing process by using the plant's technology and equipment.
  • Operators will be trained on the process of Anode and Cathode mixing and the utilization of a human machine interface (HMI), operator control panel, to activate the equipment.
  • Understand, demonstrate, and preserve workplace and process safety PPE requirements, including, but not limited to hazardous materials, equipment, and other general workplace requirements.
  • Develop and employ an understanding of battery cell manufacturing process.
  • Develop and demonstrate working knowledge of anode and cathode mixing processes, including bi-product recycling process.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot formation systems, processes and return to operations using Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
  • Develop and demonstrate understanding and ability to use Human Machine Interface (HMI) to activate equipment to request material for mixing validation.
  • Set up monitoring of HMI to load, validate and monitor coating process, press, and coil process.
  • Load, inspect and preserve necessary materials/product according to department.
  • Utilize automated assistive devices and validation systems throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor processes and work alongside subject matter experts on troubleshooting and issue management.
  • Operate equipment including manual pendant controls for crane operation, conveyor, hand-jack, and other equipment as needed.
  • Machine cleaning.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Exhibit an understanding of metric weights and measures.
  • Ability to monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Easily demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, decision making and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and electronic communication skills, including active listening skills.
  • Demonstrate basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Basic understanding and experience/comfort level with computers and digital tools including experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Use of PPE including, but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, safety footwear and all other PPE as required.
  • Ability to walk and stand for entirety of shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. chest height or above.
  • Must be able to work with and be near chemicals we use in our production process.
  • Ability to go up and down steps.
  • Must be able to push/control a 40 lb. cart.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat when needed.
  • Ability to kneel and bend.
