Description

We are looking for an active and quality orientated person with a background in manufacturing. Everyday is a little different! AVEKA is a place you can grow your career and skills by learning to run machines such as mixers, spray dryers, and ball milling.

WE OFFER ON THE JOB PAID TRAINING with a $500 hiring bonus after 6 weeks, plus another $500 after 6 months! Must be willing to commute to Fredericksburg, IA.

AVEKA Manufacturing is an EMPLOYEE-OWNED company (Part of AVEKA Group, Inc. headquartered in Woodbury, MN) where you will have a stake in the success of the facility. After 6 months you earn company shares.

Position Summary:

A key member of the Operations team. Provides final stage packaging, weighing, sealing, and stacking of product. Responsible for ensuring packaged products meet compliance factors and are neatly stacked according to standard operating procedures. Requires lifting and moving up to 60 pounds on a regular and ongoing basis.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Operating multiple unit operations and equipment
  • Assist engineers with set-up and implementation of new and existing processes
  • Work with Production Management to identify process improvements
  • Responsible for scale calibration and understanding proper documentation standards.
  • Place packaging material (bags, boxes, etc.) correctly on or underneath feeder assembly to accept the product
  • Remove product from feeder assembly and sets on a scale to weigh the package
  • Weigh the package and add or subtract material to achieve the proper weight
  • Move the package to the heat sealer (or applicable device) to seal the package
  • Move the sealed package to the metal detector and run to ensure no metal is present
  • Document the package is of the correct weight and did not detect any metal
  • Stack or place the product per standard operating procedures, generally on pallets
  • Coordinate with other team members to move pallets once full and have new pallets started
  • Coordinate with team members for employee break and meal times to ensure the system is continually operating smoothly and without shutdowns

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to achieve written documentation requirements
  • Speak, read, and write English
  • Basic math, ability to use a calculator
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification
  • Able to work independently and safely
  • Productive and attentive to detail
  • Able to lift and move 50-60 pounds regularly for an entire 8-10 hour shift

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to communicate with team members in a friendly manner
  • Skill with bagging, sealing, moving, and stacking product in a timely manner and according to standard operating procedures as learned from on the job training
  • Willing to learn new processes and grow into new responsibilities
  • Ability to learn machines such as mixers, spray dryers, and bio-reactors for career growth

Physical Requirements:

  • 100% manufacturing floor position that requires standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, reaching, bending, twisting, and working with machinery and processes that require use of the arms, hands, and fingers
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50-60 pounds as well as moving heavier objects with mechanical assistance (pallet jack / forklift)
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered per ADA requirements to enable an incumbent to perform the job if any of the above physical requirements are limited

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift 2:45pm-11:15pm
  • Monday to Friday
  • Rotating weekends
