Job summary

Gold Star in Adams Center, NY is seeking a Production Operator to organize, perform and complete the manufacturing of meal and pelleted feeds to order. You will monitor quality, assist with loading bulk trucks, and complete daily reports.

This 2nd shift starts at 1:00 p.m. and requires strict safety adherence, GMPs, and basic equipment maintenance. Experience in feed milling or manufacturing preferred; forklift operation may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in feed milling, agriculture, food production, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other mill equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor bulk feed manufacturing equipment.
  • Load bulk feed trucks and unload bulk trucks and railcars as needed.
  • Perform required daily inspections of forklifts and other mobile equipment.
  • Maintain GMPs, safety plans and quality procedures.
  • Complete required daily reports and assist other departments as needed.

As feed and commodity specialists, our customers count on us to originate feed for the mills, manufacture it according to their unique specifications and handle logistics for a safe and smooth delivery every time.

Job Summary:

A Production Operator will organize, perform and complete the manufacturing of meal & pelleted feeds to order. Includes monitoring and testing for quality assurance as required. Complete the required daily reports.

2nd Shift: Staring at 1:00 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a strong safety focus and perform all work in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights, including on elevated areas of the facility.
  • Learn and perform all duties associated with the production of mash and pelleted feeds.
  • Learn and perform all duties associated with loading bulk feed trucks.
  • Learn and perform all duties associated with unloading bulk trucks and railcars.
  • Assist with receiving, handling, organizing, and maintaining bagged ingredients.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety Plans, and quality procedures to ensure a safe, consistent, high-quality product is produced and delivered.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, including equipment faults, bin chokes, and equipment chokes.
  • Refill micro-ingredient hoppers and bulk tote systems as required.
  • Operate the bulk feed manufacturing system and associated production equipment.
  • Assist other operators and departments as needed and follow the direction of the on-shift supervisor.
  • Perform required daily inspections of forklifts and other assigned mobile equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance activities, including equipment lubrication, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow established sanitation schedules to ensure the mill, warehouse, receiving areas, and non-production areas meet housekeeping and sanitation standards.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including properly completing required electronic permits, inspections, and forms.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and curiosity while contributing to an environment where people want to work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in feed milling, agriculture, food production, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, and other mill equipment (certification a plus).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
