Job summary

Kymera International is seeking Production Operators for 2nd and 3rd shifts in its specialty materials manufacturing facility in West Penn Township, PA. You will follow Work Station Procedures to manufacture, inspect, package and ship master alloys, metal powders and sintered materials, while adhering to safety and quality guidelines.

Applicants must be available Monday–Friday and every other weekend, with overtime possible.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, plus every other weekend
• Ability to work outdoors in temperatures below 32°F and above 100°F with PPE

Responsibilities

• Operates mix station equipment, lift truck and hand tools to assemble and create raw material mixtures
• Operates thermite melt line equipment, electric furnaces and similar equipment to react, melt and/or sinter raw material mixtures
• Operates lift truck, sizing equipment, wheelabrator and hand tools to clean, crush, mill, screen and inspect work in process to create finished product
• Completes and maintains all records and documents to support work area operations
• Disassembles and reassembles work area equipment and cleans work surfaces for inspection
• Monitors the condition and operation of the work area machinery and tools
• Performs daily maintenance and notifies supervisors when repairs are needed
• Follows safety procedures and quality system standards; trains others as needed
• Maintains self-improvement through company training programs

Summary of Position

In an assigned manufacturing area, follows defined Work Station Procedures to manufacturer, inspect, package and ship master alloys, metal powders, sintered materials, induction melted products and other similar materials. Observes all applicable safety practices/procedures and operate 100% in compliance with the Company Quality System. Maintain all documents, records and files to support Manufacturing activities.

Work Schedule: This position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, plus every other weekend. Applicants must be available to work the assigned shift and the required weekend schedule. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

In an assigned work area, performs the following tasks associated with the manufacturer of Company products:

• Operates mix station equipment, lift truck and hand tools to assemble and create raw material mixtures. Follows mix instructions to ensure 100% accuracy of mix. May operate equipment to create compacted Cold Isostatic Pressed (CIP) materials.
• Operates thermite melt line equipment, electric furnaces and similar equipment to react, melt and/or sinter raw material mixtures.
• Operates lift truck, sizing equipment, wheelabrator and hand tools to clean, crush, mill, screen and inspect (white light, UV light and automated x-ray) work in process to create finished product.
• Completes and maintains all records and documents to support work area operations.
• When the assigned work area changes to manufacture another product, operates a forklift and uses a variety of hand tools to clean the work area to prevent the cross-contamination of product.
• Disassembles and reassembles work area equipment. Thoroughly cleans all equipment, worksurfaces and the work area for inspection by a Crew Leader or Supervisor.
• Continually monitors the condition and operation of the work area lift trucks, lifting devices, manufacturing equipment, building and hand tools.
• Performs defined daily maintenance and properly stores all hand tools and equipment. When repairs or added maintenance is required, promptly notifies a Crew Lead to generate a Maintenance Work Order. Contacts a Crew Leader to replace expendable hand tools and to suggest changes and upgrades to work area equipment.
• Learns and follows all Company and work area safety procedures and practices. Responsible for personal work safety and the safety of the other employees in the assigned work area.
• Learns and follows all Company quality system standards to ensure finished product meets customer specifications. Is accountable to know the Company Quality Policy and the work area quality systems.
• Based on experience in a work area, trains new or less experienced employees in all work area procedures and practices. Monitors employee performance and compliance with safety program, Workstation Procedures and Company quality systems.
• Guides, coaches, mentors and corrects as needed. Advises Crew Leader of any performance issues.
• Maintains a self-improvement program through the attendance at Company provided training programs and the completion of course work to develop individual skills, knowledge and expertise.

Performance in this position is evaluated objectively through daily production volume, the timely completion of assigned work, the demonstrated ability to work independently and produce quality product, the accurate completion of work area production records/logs and the observed compliance with Company safety programs and quality systems. Subjectively, performance in this position is evaluated by Crew Leader, Assistant Supervisor and/or Supervisor satisfaction with the employee’s productivity, the employee’s demonstrated skill set, knowledge, expertise and creativity, the employee’s ability to work effectively on any Company work team and the employee’s continued skill development.
