Hyundai Mobis will assemble battery packs using cells from the battery factory, then supply them to the Hyundai Motor Group's US EV factory, where it will produce Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis EV models.
Roles & Responsibilities
- New Production Operators will be trained to follow the battery cell manufacturing process using the plant's technology and equipment.
- Operators will be trained on the process of Anode and Cathode mixing and the utilization of a human machine interface (HMI) and operator control panel to activate the equipment.
- Understand, demonstrate, and adhere to workplace and process safety PPE requirements, including hazardous materials, equipment, and other general safety protocols.
- Develop an understanding of the battery cell manufacturing process.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of anode and cathode mixing processes, including bi-product recycling.
- Monitor and troubleshoot formation systems and processes, returning to operations using Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
- Use Human Machine Interface (HMI) to activate equipment and request materials for mixing validation.
- Set up and monitor HMI for loading, validating, and overseeing coating, press, and coil processes.
- Load, inspect, and preserve necessary materials/products according to department standards.
- Utilize automated assistive devices and validation systems throughout manufacturing.
- Monitor processes and collaborate with subject matter experts on troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Operate equipment including manual pendant controls for cranes, conveyors, hand-jacks, etc.
- Perform machine cleaning as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Understanding of metric weights and measures.
- Ability to monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper equipment functioning.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and electronic communication skills, including active listening.
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Comfort with computers and digital tools, including Microsoft Office.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, safety footwear, and other required gear.
- Ability to walk and stand for entire shifts.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs at chest height or above.
- Ability to work with chemicals used in production.
- Ability to go up and down steps.
- Ability to push/control a 40 lb. cart.
- Ability to work in extreme heat conditions as needed.
- Ability to kneel and bend.
