Job summary

Hyperion Materials & Technologies Inc. is seeking a production operator to safely run process and off-line equipment for super abrasives and related products. You will participate in team initiatives to address safety issues and drive LEAN improvements on the shop floor.

The role requires the ability to operate and interpret measuring tools, perform basic maintenance, and train others in safe operation. You may work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts depending on production needs.

Qualifications

  • Good interpersonal, cooperative and team-oriented skills.
  • Independent performer with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using LEAN and material management systems.
  • Manual dexterity to handle and position parts.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials (20-40 lbs).
  • Willingness to work overtime during high demand periods.
  • Basic computer skills (email, data entry, MS Word).
  • Able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and run standard process equipment and off-line equipment.
  • Identify and resolve safety issues as part of team initiatives.
  • Develop LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing.
  • Safely operate production equipment for super abrasives and related products.
  • Perform hand assemblies of product, blends and sieved material.
  • Read gauges, scales, microscopes and go/no-go gauges to interpret results.
  • Set up and troubleshoot tooling, assist experts with higher-difficulty tasks.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and keep area clean.
  • Maintain housekeeping in assigned area and train others on safe operation.
  • Document work instructions and communicate quality concerns.

Job description

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

Ability to operate and run to standard Process Equipment and Off line Equipment, such as; mill, spraying, powder packaging, etc. while adhering to strict quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in team initiatives to identify and resolve safety issues.
  • Participation in developing LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing.
  • Independent, safe, responsible operation of all the equipment necessary for the production of super abrasives and related products within specified work assignment.
  • Operate chemical processing equipment and handle hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform hand assemblies of product, blends, sieved material, and other as required.
  • Operate and interpret results from measuring tools, gauges, scales, microscopes, go/no go gauges, and visual standards.
  • Perform minor tooling changes, setup and troubleshooting on production equipment. Assist area experts in completing higher difficulty tooling setup, changeovers and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, equipment cleanliness, and other as necessary.
  • Complete ownership for housekeeping in assigned work area.
  • Perform training of others with respect to the safe and responsible operation of assigned manufacturing equipment mentioned above.
  • Adhere to documented work instructions: PPF, POCI, EOI, JSA, assembly prints, and other as needed.
  • Assure product and process quality measures are maintained. Communicate quality concerns to relevant technical support personnel.

  • Manual dexterity required to accurately handle and position parts.
  • Lifting and transport of materials (20-40 lbs).
  • Ability to comprehend and apply training to operate manufacturing production equipment listed above.
  • Ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve overall production goals.
  • Must be available to work overtime during periods of high order volume.
  • Basic computer competency (email, data entry into Material Mgmt. Systems, log notes in MSWord,
  • MUST be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
Education and/or Work Experience

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

Walking and standing on the shop floor for extended periods throughout the day.
