Title: Production Operator 2
Location: Sarasota, FL 34243
Duration: Temp to Hire
Shift: 1st shift - 6 am to 2:30 pm (may need to work 5 am - 1:30 pm as needed)
Description:
The Operator 2 must be able to operate machines and demonstrate leadership capabilities, similar to a Unit Leader. This role involves learning machine operations and training others, providing opportunities for leadership development across different areas of the plant floor.
The Operator II is responsible for the consistent operation of various machines and support equipment related to production. Specific duties depend on department requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform machine operations and control.
- Follow startup and shutdown procedures.
- Adhere to work instructions and company policies.
- Follow health and safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors.
- Maintain GMP standards.
- Organize and keep work station clean.
- Follow quality control inspection points.
- Clean machines and work areas.
- Troubleshoot issues.
- Read work orders and bills of materials.
- Complete necessary paperwork.
- Follow work instructions and product specifications.
- Conduct quality inspections.
- Evaluate non-conformities in products and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for Chain & Spooling Department:
- Conduct quality inspections and first piece checks.
- Use Nikon profile protector.
- Visually inspect products for quality.
- Weigh and record chain production.
- Maintain chain traceability with temporary travelers.
- Print labels and package products as per instructions.
Additional Responsibilities for Extrusion Department:
- Perform maintenance checks and cleaning.
- Conduct first piece and ongoing inspections.
- Change over, clean, and adjust extrusion dies.
- Troubleshoot, purge, and clean extrusion equipment.
- Setup and calibrate equipment based on specifications.
- Manage material drying and mixing.
- Inspect quality and report scrap.
- Verify measurements with calipers, scales, and gauges.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience operating machinery in a production environment.
- Dependability and adaptability.
- Basic math and weight conversions.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Knowledge of measurement methods.
- Proficient with small hand tools.
- Ability to cross-train in other areas.
- Experience with lean manufacturing.
Educational Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous manufacturing experience.
Environmental Requirements:
- Primarily office environment with equipment use.
- Limited temperature fluctuations, air-conditioned environment.
- Exposure to manufacturing environment.
- No latex allergy.
Physical Requirements:
- Sit for at least 4 hours.
- Normal eye/hand coordination and dexterity.
- Extended reach and manual dexterity.
- Acuity for tasks.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Lift and transport up to 30 lbs.
