Job summary

Suburban Manufacturing Group is seeking a Production Operator – Industrial Sewing at our Monticello, MN facility. This hands-on role involves using industrial sewing equipment, assembling, inspecting, and packaging textile products.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Industrial sewing experience is a plus; training provided.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy essential.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good hand dexterity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Sew and assemble products according to work orders.
  • Read and follow production instructions.
  • Inspect finished products for quality.
  • Package products for shipment or inventory storage.
  • Identify and store finished materials properly.
  • Notify Purchasing of material substitutions or usage changes during production.
  • Prioritize daily workflow with supervisors.
  • Monitor sewing equipment and report maintenance.
  • Communicate quality issues and help identify solutions.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.

We're looking for a Production Operator – Industrial Sewing to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on production role where you'll help build high-quality textile products from start to finish. Whether you have industrial sewing experience or transferable skills from sewing, upholstery, quilting, tailoring, assembly, machine operation, or other hands-on manufacturing work, we'd love to hear from you.

In this role, you'll be part of the production process, using industrial sewing equipment while also assembling, inspecting, handling, and packaging materials. You'll follow work instructions, maintain quality standards, and work closely with your team to keep production moving efficiently. What You'll Do
  • Sew and assemble products according to work orders, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Read and follow production instructions while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
  • Package products for shipment or inventory storage.
  • Properly identify, store, and organize finished products and raw materials.
  • Notify Purchasing of material substitutions or usage changes during production.
  • Work with supervisors and production coordinators to prioritize daily workflow.
  • Monitor sewing equipment and report any maintenance or quality concerns.
  • Communicate quality issues and help identify solutions.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous industrial sewing or sewing machine experience is a plus, but we're willing to train
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good hand dexterity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently when needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform repetitive hand motions throughout the day.
  • Stand and/or sit for extended periods during a 10-hour shift.
  • Frequently reach, pull, fold, and handle fabric and materials.
  • Work around moving machinery in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise.
