Job summary

Omya in Lucerne Valley is seeking a production operator to execute manufacturing processes, load materials, and follow precise formulas. The role requires reading BOMs, maintaining clean records, and ensuring safety and quality at all times.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience in a chemical or related field (implied by role)
  • Experience in a maintenance role for a manufacturing or related operation
  • Basic computer skills and laboratory experience are preferred
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry is preferred
  • Ability to communicate efficiently verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors and customers
  • Able to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends, including nights and weekends
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, dirt and noise environments

Responsibilities

  • Operate designated production equipment and execute manufacturing processes
  • Read bill of materials and formulas to add proper quantities in correct sequence
  • Manufacture product safely and timely per process instructions meeting quality standards
  • Read control instruments and maintain neat, accurate records of operations
  • Complete quality test requirements to verify final product quality
  • Ensure efficient, uninterrupted production and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Keep records for production, raw materials deliveries, quality samples and equipment performance
  • Prepare product packaging for next production step or final shipment
  • Ensure proper operation and cleanliness of laboratory instruments
  • Follow QSHE guidelines and corporate safety and environmental requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key AccountabilitiesProduction Duties Execute manufacturing process by operating designated production equipment. Select intermediates or raw materials, move and load it into production machines. Understand bill of materials and/or formula specifications, so the proper quantities of materials are added in the proper sequence. Manufacture product in a safe and timely manner and according to predefined process instructions to meet specific quality standards. Accurately read control instruments, prepare neat & accurate records for all operations as required. Responsible for completion of all quality test requirements to verify final product quality. Ensure efficient, uninterrupted production and identify and facilitate process improvements, monitor equipment and report production information in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Keep records for production, raw material deliveries, quality samples and equipment and process performance. Prepare product packaging for next step in production or for final shipment to customer according to department specifications. Ensure proper operation, maintenance and cleanliness of various laboratory instruments. Work in accordance with all relevant requirements and internal safety guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned.Quality, Safety, Health and EnvironmentResponsible for housekeeping in the plant and maintaining a clean, safe and clutter free work environment. Know the significant quality, safety & health, and environmental (QSHE) aspects/ impacts associated with work, including relevant legal/ other requirements and emergency preparedness and response.
