Job summary

JDH in Idaho operates a bulk feed milling facility and seeks a Production Operator to monitor equipment, blend raw materials into livestock feed, and ensure product quality and safety standards.

You will work with a team of operators and supervisors, perform inspections, load/unload trucks, maintain cleanliness, and support the nutritional needs of our dairy customers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in feed milling, agriculture, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, and other mill equipment (certification a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Operate bulk feed manufacturing system.
  • Blend and process raw materials into livestock feed.
  • Load and unload trucks and rail cars.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in production areas.

Summary:

The Production Operator role involves operating and monitoring milling equipment, blending and processing raw materials into high-quality livestock feed, and ensuring consistent product output that meets quality and nutritional standards. You’ll work closely with a team of operators and supervisors to maintain efficient production, uphold safety and sanitation standards, and support the nutritional needs of our dairy customers.

  • Operate Bulk Feed manufacturing system
  • Climbing ladders and working at heights on top of facility
  • Perform scale weight test weekly
  • Dump bag ingredients into mixes as formula requires
  • Load – unload trucks in both load out area and in the warehouse
  • Wait on customers as needed
  • Insure bulk commodities are flowing from bulk bins
  • Refill Micro ingredient hoppers when needed
  • Perform daily inspections of Fork Trucks
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment including lubrication and adjustments
  • Clean control room daily
  • Clean mill on regular schedule
  • Pull Bag orders for next day’s bag truck deliveries
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment including lubrication and adjustments
  • Clean mill on a daily schedule
  • Operate and monitor bulk receiving system
  • Test incoming ingredients, ie: Corn = % moisture % BCFM, properly record results
  • Unload inbound trucks as necessary
  • Unload rail cars as necessary
  • Insure bulk commodities are flowing into correct bulk bins
  • Perform daily bin inventory and rail car inventory
  • Perform daily inspect of Front End Loader
  • Clean receiving shed & office daily
  • Assist with any other tasks as requested or assigned by management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in feed milling, agriculture, food production, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, and other mill equipment (certification a plus).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Comfortable with shift work, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Indoor/outdoor mill setting with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature changes.
  • Fast-paced team environment with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, climb 75 feet of ladder, and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • May require working on a rotating shift or weekends depending on production needs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.

Requires the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and a background check.
