Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS is seeking a Production Operator in Dalton, GA to support safe, efficient, and continuous manufacturing operations. The role involves operating or monitoring production equipment, handling materials, inspecting products, and completing production documentation.

You will follow SOPs and safety rules, escalate equipment or quality issues promptly, and work closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to meet production goals.

Production Operator

Reports to: Line Supervisor/Production Supervisor

Location: Dalton, GA

Summary

The Production Operator performs a variety of manufacturing and production activities in support of safe, efficient, and continuous production operations. Depending on the assigned production area, responsibilities may include operating or monitoring production equipment, handling and preparing materials, inspecting products and components, performing assembly or repair activities, packaging finished products, and completing production documentation.

The Production Operator follows established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety requirements, and quality standards while supporting production goals. The position requires attention to detail, effective communication, and timely escalation of equipment, material, safety, quality, and production concerns.

Essential Functions

• Perform assigned manufacturing processes according to SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Operate, monitor, or support assigned production equipment within training and authorization.
• Load, unload, prepare, organize, stage, and handle production materials and components according to established procedures.
• Inspect materials, components, and finished products for defects, damage, contamination, abnormalities, or other quality concerns.
• Identify, segregate, and report defective or nonconforming materials according to established procedures.
• Monitor equipment and processes for alarms, faults, abnormalities, or deviations; perform basic troubleshooting within training and elevate concerns requiring additional support.
• Maintain established quality and production standards while minimizing defects, material damage, waste, and unnecessary interruptions.
• Verify production orders, specifications, labels, materials, and other production information as required.
• Accurately complete production documentation, data entry, scanning, tracking, and electronic production records.
• Safely handle and move materials using approved methods and authorized material-handling equipment.
• Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Communicate safety, quality, material, equipment, and production concerns to the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or supporting department.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Equipment, Process, Material, and other supporting teams.
• Follow applicable safety requirements and properly use required PPE.
• Perform other related duties consistent with the position's responsibilities, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, and standardized work procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and established quality standards.
• Ability to recognize and report defects, abnormalities, or deviations.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn applicable manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Basic computer, math, and reading comprehension skills; ability to learn scanners, HMIs, and production systems.
• Ability to perform repetitive production activities while maintaining accuracy, safety, and quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Required/Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, assembly, quality, warehouse, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to successfully complete required job-specific training.
• Ability to work assigned schedules, which may include nights, weekends, overtime, holidays, or extended shifts based on operational requirements.
• Certain assignments may require additional training, demonstrated skills, or qualifications based on the equipment or process performed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Remain standing and/or walking for extended periods during the work shift.
• Frequently use hands and fingers to grasp, handle, manipulate, position, or inspect materials and components and perform repetitive hand/arm movements.
• Frequently reach, bend, stoop, squat, twist, push, and pull as necessary to perform assigned production activities.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, including through team lifting or other approved material-handling methods when applicable.
• Visually inspect products, materials, equipment, labels, screens, or documentation as required.
• Safely operate or interact with applicable production equipment, scanners, controls, tools, and material-handling equipment.
• Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with established safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Depending on the assigned area, employees may work around automated equipment, moving machinery, conveyors, carts, material-handling systems, and production materials.
• The environment may include moderate to high noise levels and varying temperatures.
• Required PPE may include safety glasses, gloves, safety footwear, hearing protection, or other protective equipment based on the assigned area and company requirements.
