Production Operator
Reports to Production Supervisor
Job Description
Maximize production of quality products, in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner on assigned equipment/processes. Perform as the crew leader of support personnel assigned to their production line.
Essential Functions
- Comply with information and special instructions per specific job orders. Obtain first piece approvals. Must follow standard procedures for completing routine tasks.
- Assist supervisors in set-ups and changeovers on production equipment as assigned.
- Troubleshoot, solve and adjust the production process to correct problems and quality defects. Records corrective actions taken.
- Perform inspections and tests per procedures, record results on data collection sheets, forms, and logs as instructed.
- Responsible for hand tools and special tools used on a daily basis. Insure tools are clean and safe.
- Monitor production to avoid under and overruns; report production, spoilage, labor and materials used during shift.
- Oversee housekeeping and cleaning of assigned equipment, work area and production materials.
- Insure all guards, doors and safety devices are functional and in place during operation; report any problems promptly that are not correctable by the operator.
- Responsible for production quality.
- Responsible for production effectiveness by minimizing downtime and avoiding unnecessary delays.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist the supervisor in training of carton packers/box handlers and operator trainees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have math skills.
- Work independently.
- Have mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of hand tools and able to use effectively.
- Must have normal color vision.
- Have good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Typical weight of cartons range from 10-25 lbs.
