Job summary

ChampionX, now part of SLB, is seeking a Local Production CDL Operator in Odessa, TX. You will perform production tasks, operate pumps, mixers, and packaging equipment, and move materials with CDL-equipped vehicles in the Midland/Odessa area.

Qualifications include a valid Class A CDL, HazMat and Tanker endorsements or willingness to obtain, 6 months in warehouse or manufacturing, High School Diploma or GED, and ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Complete production functions safely and efficiently.
  • Blend, react, package, and transfer finished chemical products while maintaining quality.
  • Operate pumps, mixers, automation systems, and packaging equipment.
  • Perform forklift operations to move materials and products.
  • Prepare production tickets, inventory transactions, and shipping docs.
  • Conduct daily equipment and area inspections and maintain housekeeping.
  • Comply with safety, environmental, and ISO procedures; report incidents.
  • Assist with physical inventory and maintain accuracy.
  • Operate CDL vehicles to transport materials within Midland/Odessa as needed.

Starting pay of $30.00 per hour, with incremental wage increases through our Skills Progression Program.

What You Will Do:

Complete daily work functions within production operations in a safe and efficient manner

Blend, react, package, and transfer finished chemical products while maintaining quality standards

Operate mechanical and electrical equipment including pumps, mixers, automation control systems, and packaging equipment

Perform forklift operations to move raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials throughout the facility

Complete production documentation including production tickets, goods receipts, inventory transactions, and shipping documentation

Conduct daily inspections of equipment and work areas while maintaining housekeeping standards throughout the facility

Comply with all plant safety initiatives, environmental requirements, and quality procedures, including near-miss and incident reporting

Assist with physical inventory counts and maintain inventory accuracy

Ensure compliance with all applicable ISO requirements and company operating procedures

Work closely with Production Team Leads and cross-functional teams to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations

Operate commercial CDL vehicles to transport materials between company facilities and customer locations within the Midland/Odessa area, as business needs require.

Department: Chemical Technologies Manufacturing Operations

Reports to: Production Team Leads

Ability to work the assigned plant operations schedule, including overtime as needed

Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing

Minimum Qualifications:

6 months of relevant experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment

High School Diploma or GED

Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator

Physically able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 pounds

Must currently hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), issued by the state in which the candidate resides

Must possess HazMat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain both within 30 days of hire.

Acceptable motor vehicle record (3 years)

Must be comfortable operating company vehicles equipped with in-cab camera systems.

CDL must not include a manual transmission restriction.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders and perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment

Must have the ability to safely work in an industrial manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

Two-year Process Technology degree preferred

Minimum of one year of experience as an operator in a batch or specialty chemical manufacturing plant

Minimum of one year of relevant manufacturing or production experience

24-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred

Basic computer application literacy, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal business systems

Prior experience that demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills

Prior experience that demonstrates strong work ethic, effective time management, adaptability, teamwork, and attention to detail

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

Physical Demands:

May be required to Lift/Push/Pull/Carry up to 60 pounds.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis.

Ability to bend, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.

Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
