Production Mechanic Level 3

Location: Oak Brook, IL

Schedule: 3rd Shift: Sunday – Thursday | 11 PM – 7:30 AM

About the Role:

The Production Mechanic (Level 3) is responsible for maintaining all production equipment, including performing changeovers, overhauls, corrective repairs, and fabricating parts. The ideal candidate should have at least 3-4 years of experience in a production maintenance mechanic role within a manufacturing environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Review the production schedule at the start of each shift for the assigned area to determine production run, change-over needs, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Readjust lines and change over equipment for product, material, size, and pack pattern. Run the first piece of production and check for conformance to quality standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks during the shift and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and parts as required.
  • Monitor equipment for unsafe conditions and recommend or implement corrective actions for malfunctions.
  • Record production delays and maintain downtime records.
  • Assist in training Level 1 and Level 2 Production Mechanics as required.
  • Provide input on developing specifications for new machinery.
  • Fabricate repair parts not commercially available.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated proficiency or trade-related schooling in welding, machine shop, industrial electricity, drafting, PLC, pipe fitting, or related trades, preferably in a fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench, drills, grinders, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret machinery and electrical blueprints/schematics and follow maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe machine conditions and correct them.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers, work as part of a team, accept constructive criticism, and comply with company policies.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal skills for interacting with internal customers.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Basic computer skills in a Windows environment; familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is beneficial.
  • Willingness to accept additional duties as required by the team.

Compensation:

The hourly pay ranges from $33.76 to $44.32, based on experience and skills. The role is eligible for a discretionary bonus as part of the total compensation package.
