Job description

Overview: The Production Mechanic III is a skilled trade overtime eligible position that requires a technical background. The Production Mechanic III will report to the VP of Engineering's Management team. The Production Mechanic III is responsible for ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment at all Charm Sciences facilities as needed. The pay range for this position is $27.50 to $41.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and other factors in accordance with applicable laws.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform and manage preventative maintenance program to ensure all packaging equipment remains in as new condition, includes motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systems.
  2. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  3. Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and packaging line equipment and parts by using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  4. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  5. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  6. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish tasks.
  7. Continuously evaluate and guide maintenance team and practices to eliminate non-productive activities and implement productivity enhancements.
  8. Maintain a working cell phone in order to ensure consistent communication during regular working hours unless a device is provided by the company.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  1. 5 years experience in an industrial/manufacturing maintenance/operation environment.
  2. 5 years experience in industrial electrical systems and pneumatic controls.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of PLCs and ability to work with proprietary computer-based machine controls.
  4. Hands-on attitude and solid work history.
  5. Available to work extra hours when needed to reach production goals.
  6. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred
  1. Skilled with Microsoft Office.
  2. GMP/GLP Experience.
  3. Knowledge of OSHA Safety Rules.
  4. Supervisory Experience.
  5. Possesses basic machine shop skills.
  6. Completion of technical school or courses.
Physical Requirements
  1. Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  2. Must be able to bend, push, and pull equipment.
  3. Able to remain stationary for an extended length of time.
  4. The person in this position must be able to visually detect malfunctions in production equipment.
  5. The person in this position is frequently required to move about the facility and drive to other locations.
  6. Must be able to work in a clean room environment.
  7. Must be able to position self for an extended period of time in front of or under equipment and have dexterity to work with trade tools.
  8. The person in this position must be able to communicate findings when troubleshooting.
