Job description

Get ready to lead the charge as our Production Manager Extraordinaire! Join us in shaping a world where quality reigns supreme and efficiency is our middle name. This opportunity will be a 2nd Shift role Monday - Friday 5:00pm - 5:00am based at our Norwood manufacturing facility.

The Production Manager will ensure the production of high-quality products at a production rate that meets or exceeds current levels by maintaining high quality standards, low reject rate for product produced and low materials waste. The incumbent will communicate and implement Company guidelines, procedures and policies in their areas. This manager will create and maintain a safe and fair work environment for all production team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of work center associates to ensure smooth operations and meet production targets.
  • Assign tasks to team members based on their skills and expertise, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Train all incoming Work Center Leads in the D365 Production Module, ensuring proficient use of the tool among team members within your Work Center, and conduct training on standard operating procedures and safety protocols for new associates.
  • Monitor the performance of your team, providing feedback and coaching for improvement.
  • Ensure your Work Center team can accurately make transactions in D365 to avoid inventory discrepancies.
  • Accurately consolidate batch orders in D365 when the orders are complete (RAF).
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and quality control measures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs.
  • Collaborate with other department leads to optimize cross-functional processes and resolve any interdepartmental challenges.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for efficiency enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent leadership skills and be able to effectively manage a team of employees.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to your team and other departments.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and be able to optimize workflow to enhance productivity.
  • Experience in inventory management and be able to maintain accurate records of stock levels and coordinate with suppliers when necessary.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office, to generate reports, analyze data, and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and ensure that all work center activities comply with industry standards and guidelines.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise in the work center.
  • You should have a proactive mindset and be willing to continuously improve processes and seek out opportunities for efficiency gains.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment where a broad range of tasks may be required.
  • Must be able to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
  • Exposure to approx. 85 decibel sound while on plant floor (appropriate ear protection will be provided).
  • Required availability to work weekends and overtime as necessary to complete projects and installs.
  • This position will require 50% office work and 50% field work on the production floor.
  • Company provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor.
