Production Manager – Nancy’s Fancy Gelato

About Us
Nancy’s Fancy Gelato is a premium frozen dessert company founded by James Beard Award-winning chef Nancy Silverton. Our gelato and sorbetto are made with uncompromising quality and culinary integrity, using the finest ingredients and time-honored Italian methods. Produced in small batches in Los Angeles, we supply select retailers, restaurants, and direct-to-consumer platforms across the U.S.


Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations in our Los Angeles gelato facility. This leadership role is critical to maintaining the highest product quality, safety standards, and production efficiency. You will oversee production scheduling, inventory coordination, quality assurance, sanitation protocols, and a small but mighty team of production and packing staff.


Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily production and packaging of gelato and sorbetto

- Lead and train production staff to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence

- Manage raw ingredient and packaging inventory; coordinate with purchasing

- Maintain and improve HACCP, GMP, and allergen safety programs

- Execute production schedules to meet demand from wholesale, DTC, and third-party platforms (UNFI, KeHE, Goldbelly, etc.)

- Ensure all products meet brand standards for taste, texture, labeling, and appearance

- Collaborate with R&D and leadership on seasonal flavors and new product launches

- Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues

- Assist with regulatory audits, certifications, and facility inspections


Qualifications
- 3–5 years of food manufacturing experience, ideally in frozen desserts or CPG

- Prior supervisory experience in a production environment

- Knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, SQF, GMP, allergen protocols)

- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold environments

- Passion for premium food and commitment to quality craftsmanship


Bonus Points
- Experience with UNFI, KeHE, or Goldbelly fulfillment

- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

- Culinary or food science background
