Job summary

Massie Manufacturing, headquartered in Baraga, Michigan, seeks an experienced Production Manager to lead daily operations and drive focus on quality, on-time delivery, efficiency, and continuous improvement. You’ll oversee scheduling, procurement, and facilities while coaching supervisors to foster an organized, results-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience and a degree in Engineering/OM/Business.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive manufacturing or production experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; strong leadership matters most.
  • Effective working knowledge of manufacturing processes and how to improve efficiency, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Proven experience leading people and managing competing production priorities.
  • Strong scheduling, planning, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience working with purchasing, suppliers, estimating, quoting, or job-cost considerations.
  • Comfortable using Excel, Word, quoting/purchasing systems, and production planning or job-tracking tools.
  • Able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels as well as customers and vendors.
  • Organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on, positive approach—you see a problem and want to help solve it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, including scheduling, estimating, purchasing/supply chain, programming, production, and facilities.
  • Plan and prioritize production based on customer needs, capacity, staffing, materials, and deadlines.
  • Track job progress, identify bottlenecks, and keep priorities moving.
  • Coach and support supervisors and production employees while creating an organized, accountable, and positive work environment.
  • Work with estimating/quoting to help ensure accurate pricing, lead times, capacity planning, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to keep materials available and costs under control.
  • Help ensure products meet customer requirements and established quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, added capabilities, and efficiency gains.
  • Lead weekly production meetings, communicating clearly with staff, leadership, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support continuous improvement, employee training, and quality/audit activities.
  • Address performance issues and day-to-day challenges in a practical, respectful, and timely way.

Massie Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations at our Baraga, Michigan facility. You’ll keep work moving, people aligned, customers supported, and production focused on the things that matter most: quality, on-time delivery, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Massie has more than 60 years of experience in industrial metal fabrication and machining, with capabilities ranging from one-off prototypes to larger production runs. We’re looking for a practical, hands‑on leader who can help us continue building on that foundation. What We Offer.
  • $85,000 - $115,000 annually based on experience.

What We’re Looking For.
