Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering required.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve production documents, assign OT as needed, and train staff.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and coordinate with environmental group.
  • Monitor processes and equipment for permits compliance and coach operators.
  • Lead safety culture, conduct incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
  • Review production plans and adjust runs to meet demand and quality targets.
  • Mentor team leads and develop operators; maintain training matrix and SOPs.
  • Manage cost performance and budget for the plant; track KPIs and implement improvements.

Hours of work: Full-time position – standard hours are during the day shift plus on call 24/7 managed amongst the Production Management/Supervision team

The Production Manager III will mentor and coach the Production Group leader I & Line Manager position, coach and reinforce expectations set in operator job descriptions, production operation sheets, and the overall safety of the operators. The incumbent will troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical support to the operations, review and approve production documentations and log sheets, certify operators and validate the training is adequate and complete, and motivate operators. The Production Manager III will monitor equipment condition and housekeeping, then take action as necessary. Accountable for all planning, manufacturing and other support functions for the Columbus Plant to achieve safety, environmental, financial, production, and quality goals and responsible for a portion of $15 million operating budget and 35 employees. The Production Manager III will ensure that all operations at COL are carried out safely and efficiently to achieve maximum productivity, plus measure and collate all operational data (performance, maintenance and cost control).

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Review and approve production documents, administer OT as needed, and train employees as needed and required
  • Maintain environmental compliance and facilitate activities with the environmental group
  • Actively ensure processes & equipment is in compliance of permits through monitoring and coaching operators
  • Serve as a model for working safely in the plant
  • Conduct incident investigations on near misses, injuries, and accidents. Participate in Behavior Based Safety Observations
  • Enforce safety policies and adherence to JSPs
  • Maintain Environmental Compliance and facilitate activities with Environmental Agencies
  • Review MOC for area of responsibility and ensure process/equipment changes are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Manage Cost Performance to Budget: materials, volume, spending. Manage Resource Requests (Material handling, Tools, housekeeping etc.)
  • Monitor KPI's, Report on Performance, Act on Performance Issues. Identify work Process Improvement opportunities
  • Administer company and plant policies maintaining effective labor relations
  • Determine production line organization staffing needs, including overtime
  • Review and approve Production Documentation (e.g., Log Sheets, Play Book)
  • Review Production Plan and adjust product runs as needed
  • Ensure resources are available for teams to produce on-time, quality product while they adhere to company and plant policies
  • Lead teams in problem solving needs and motivate all teams to achieve plant goals/KPI's
  • Determine production line organization staffing needs, including overtime
  • Review and approve Production Documentation (e.g., Log, Monitor, and OP sheets, Yields, byproducts etc.)
  • Review Production Plan and adjust product runs as needed
  • Ensure that daily shift handover and area team meetings are held where issues are identified and root cause issues addressed
  • Write and verify all the operators are trained and following all the Policies & Procedures
  • Ensure supervisors, managers, and operators are maintaining training matrix, and up to date on SOP's
  • Nurture the development of team employees including team leads
  • Provide input to plant trainer to determine requirements of development for all employees to improve needed skills
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university is required (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering; equivalent education or work experience is also accepted)
  • A master’s degree or equivalent is preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is required
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience is required
  • 7-10 years of manufacturing experience is required
