Printpack, a leader in flexible packaging manufacturing, is in search of a Production Manager for the Grand Prairie, Tx Converting plant. This position will report to the Plant Manager. This is a key Operations Leadership position with direct management responsibility for multiple departments within the plant. The focus of this critical management role is to drive performance in the manufacturing processes, utilizing continuous improvement to deliver and sustain profitable growth. The fundamental task will be to manage the operations of the plant and provide direction to management and supervision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct all activities related to operations and production in accordance with PPK business plan and the strategic goals of the Company and business units. Collaborate with colleagues to achieve safety and environmental performance objectives for the plant and ensure food safety standards. Collaborate with department managers and set short/long-term production goals for the site. Direct and manage the overall production plan for the entire plant. Collaborate with functional area managers to determine materials, space, equipment, and personnel needs. Develop and implement processes, procedures, and assignments while being mindful of budget and cost constraints. Communicate the Company's strategic goals and vision for site. Evaluate performance against production goals and adjust allocations of resources (e.g., personnel, equipment, materials) as needed to optimize quality and quantity of components produced, market share of customers, quality of services provided, and cost-efficiency of operations. Review and analyze reports of key business performance data. Collaborate with management team on operations and maintain knowledge of current market trends and best practices for region and industry. Engage the team in supervising day-to-day operations. Provide strategic guidance and resources to troubleshoot highly complex issues related to departmental operations and customer service. Initiate engineering projects and new product launches, including submitting CEs. Lead lean improvement projects and act as the liaison between lean improvement personnel and their respective groups. Develop and lead the implementation of operational initiatives in support of Lean Six-Sigma manufacturing (e.g., department utilization improvement, process capability enhancement, customer satisfaction, employee involvement). Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Set and communicate standards, deploy resources, and achieve clear and measurable performance expectations for the operation. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in business administration, process management, operations, industrial engineering, engineering, or engineering management. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in process optimization, operations, or business management with 2 years minimum in a leadership role. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Advanced skills in the use of data management tools to monitor progress toward goals, certifications related to lean manufacturing. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively apply MS Excel and other analysis tools to real-world problem-solving. Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable with setting your own priorities. Polished presentation, business acumen, and facilitation skills. Good understanding of Lean manufacturing principles. Experience with high-volume operations. Unwavering adherence to all applicable EHS, Quality and Food Safety procedures and protocols. Full support of the Quality and Food Safety programs. Strong organization and planning skills. Change Agent experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVEL: Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms. Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to protective eyewear, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection. Must be able to work on the production floor at production machines when needed for process improvement events. Must be able to work on a computer and utilize tools for virtual meetings as needed. Travel Requirements: This associate will not be expected to travel regularly. However, occasional travel to other locations is needed, typically 1-4 times per year. WORK CONDITIONS: This position will be in an office. However, the role will necessitate significant time on the plant floor and in warehouses. The primary responsibilities would be Monday through Friday during normal business hours but could include weekends and nights if needed for an improvement project.
