Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) Studios and Production Services is hiring a Production Manager to support and perform administrative and production tasks for the entire production department as needed. The production manager will report to the Vice President of GPB Studios. GPB is a statewide dual licensee comprised of 9 PBS television stations and 21 NPR radio stations that broadcast across Georgia.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Manage budgets for client and internal productions.
- Handle daily office activities including scheduling meetings, booking studios/rooms, preparing materials, shipments, receiving, ordering supplies, note-taking, reviewing freelancer invoices and timecards, and distributing materials.
- Assist with studio setup for GPB client and internal productions and serve as an onsite contact during studio or field productions.
- Assist with editing short and long-term projects.
- Prepare contract documents for studio and field shoots.
- Coordinate distribution and management of releases for client talent and locations.
- Coordinate crew fulfillment across pre-production, production, and post-production phases.
- Manage bookings of studios/facilities and assist in creating shot lists, itineraries, and call sheets.
- Work with production teams to organize and maintain production assets.
- Serve as the point of contact for client delivery of final programs/products.
- Assist in operating studio equipment such as cameras, teleprompters, and graphics.
- Supervise all production engineering staff and schedule production work.
- Evaluate staff performance, direct work, address concerns, and provide discipline as needed.
- Act as liaison between creative, technical, and logistical aspects of productions and provide technical assistance.
- Arrange for transmission and telephone services for remote programs.
- Contribute to long-term planning regarding facilities and personnel; advise the Director of Engineering on production needs.
- Maintain production policies and procedures; resolve organizational and personnel issues.
- Keep records of production activities and participate in meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Interact with other stations and oversee studio safety programs.
- Manage relationships with external partners, talent, and agencies to ensure smooth collaboration.
- Perform other administrative tasks, including remote surveys, equipment evaluation, and managing outside rentals; substitute for co-workers as needed.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Television Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of supervisory experience in television production and broadcasting.
- Strong editing skills in Final Cut and Adobe Premiere.
- 1-2 years of experience in a television production environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of editing software such as Final Cut or Adobe is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Detail-oriented, efficient, creative problem-solver, and proactive communicator.
- Maintain professionalism when working with talent and crews.
