Job summary

MPI represents a client in Illinois seeking a Production Manager to lead die-cutting operations in a fast-paced facility located in the western suburbs. The role emphasizes safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and cost control while guiding production teams.

The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, staffing plans, and KPI achievement, leveraging Lean/Six Sigma practices and ERP/MRP systems to optimize performance and collaboration with Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
• 3+ years leading die-cutting, converting, packaging, printing, or similar manufacturing processes.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Proven success leading direct and indirect production teams.
• Strong knowledge of: Die-cutting processes, Converting operations, Tooling and dies, Material handling systems, Production planning.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of OEE, capacity planning, productivity metrics, and labor efficiency.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production activities to meet customer delivery requirements and production schedules.
• Manage production supervisors, team leads, and machine operators.
• Develop staffing plans and optimize labor utilization across shifts.
• Monitor and improve key manufacturing metrics/KPIs.
• Provide technical leadership for die-cutting and converting operations.
• Optimize machine settings, tooling configurations, and process parameters to improve throughput and quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues involving tooling, material flow, machine performance, setup, and product defects.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Partner with Quality teams to resolve manufacturing and customer quality concerns.

Job Offer

• Base salary $115,000 - $130,000 Depending on Experience
• 10% annual bonus incentive based on personal targets
• 3 Weeks PTO + 1 week sick time
