Job summary

Viper Trailers is seeking a Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations in West Lafayette, IN. You will direct supervisors and team leads, coordinate workflow and labor needs, monitor performance, and partner with the Operations Manager to improve processes and meet customer and company objectives.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, training, onboarding, scheduling, safety, and ensuring on-time production while maintaining quality standards and production documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with 3+ years in a supervision or management role.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, workflow, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to lead and develop supervisors, team leads, and production employees.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, job travelers, and production specs, plus OSHA familiarity.

The Production Manager leads the day-to-day execution of manufacturing operations to achieve safe, efficient, high-quality, and on-time production. This role directs production through supervisors and team leads, coordinates workflow and labor needs, monitors performance, and partners with the Operations Manager to improve processes, reduce scrap, and meet customer and company objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily production activities through supervisors and team leads.
• Manage workflow, priorities, labor, and resources to meet production schedules and delivery goals.
• Monitor production performance, labor utilization, output, and scrap; identify and address performance gaps.
• Ensure quality standards and production documentation are maintained.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
• Monitor equipment and tooling needs and coordinate maintenance or repairs.
• Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and production employees.
• Coordinate training, cross-training, hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
• Address employee concerns, attendance, conduct, and performance issues.
• Communicate production status, staffing needs, safety concerns, and performance results to leadership.
• Support new products, process changes, special projects, and other operational initiatives.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 3+ years in a production supervision or management role.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment, workflow, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to lead and develop supervisors, team leads, and production employees.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, job travelers, production specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe manufacturing practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing/production management systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in operations, manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus, but not required.

Pay:

$70,000-$75,000
