Role Overview
You will guide plant operations and staff to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Your primary focus will be on managing manufacturing performance against established targets for productivity, cost control, and product safety. Additionally, you will supervise the Maintenance Team Lead/Planner, coordinate daily maintenance tasks, and manage workshop facilities. You will also take charge of future capital expenditure projects and equipment installations, including oversight of project budgets and external contractors.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of recent experience in a Production Manager or Supervisor capacity, overseeing 50+ hourly staff across multiple shifts, with a minimum of 8 years of total manufacturing experience.
- Background in paper converting, paperboard packaging, or related manufacturing sectors
- Experience launching new production lines or managing plant startup and expansion initiatives
- Proficiency with ISO 9001 and/or 14001 standards
- Experience within GMP environments serving FDA-regulated industries is highly preferred
- Knowledge of SQF, BRC, AIB, HACCP, or food safety protocols
- Commitment to fostering a culture where safety is the top priority
- Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, and mentor team members effectively
- Technical proficiency in MS Office and ERP software
- Proven track record in managing project budgets and machinery installations
- Competency in tracking and reporting on key performance indicators
- Experience driving initiatives for continuous improvement
- Background in coordinating maintenance functions, including CMMS and preventative maintenance scheduling
Additional Qualifications
An Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Technical degree is preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to analyze maintenance data via CMMS
- Familiarity with TPM, Lean Six Sigma, or reliability engineering

Core Responsibilities
- Directly supervise Production Team Leads and the Maintenance Team Leader/Planner, overseeing a starting team of 35+ hourly staff to ensure operational success
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams to optimize resources and enhance preventative maintenance and continuous improvement efforts
- Create and execute production standards to help maximize overall operational efficiency
- Analyze production metrics to drive initiatives that improve manufacturing excellence
- Partner with the Quality Manager to ensure all outgoing products satisfy customer specifications and food safety requirements
- Manage labor planning to ensure production schedules are met consistently
- Provide leadership and support to the Maintenance Team Leader and the broader maintenance staff
- Help design and manage preventative maintenance systems to ensure equipment reliability and spare parts availability
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Team Leader to perform root cause analysis and improve equipment reliability
- Manage external contractors to ensure maintenance requirements are met when internal resources are insufficient
- Champion a safety-first environment to ensure full compliance with ISO 9001:2015, GMP, and food packaging safety regulations
- Work with the Safety Manager to mitigate risks and improve overall safety performance
- Oversee staff training initiatives to ensure all employees remain competent in operational and safety standards
- Partner with the Quality Manager to resolve customer complaints and address product non-conformances
- Manage budgets for machinery installations and CAPEX projects to ensure cost-effective delivery
- Control waste and labor utilization to help the facility meet its financial targets
- Cultivate a high-engagement team culture that supports ongoing improvement and professional development
