Job summary

Distribution International seeks a Fabrication Manager to lead a fabrication center, coordinating work to meet cost, quality, and quantity specifications. The role requires a engineering/technical degree and 5+ years of managerial manufacturing experience, with strong leadership and people development skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle ERP is expected; Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field required.
  • 5+ years of related manufacturing/ fabrication management experience.
  • Proven supervisory/leadership skills with team development.
  • Strong training ability and people development experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Experience in distribution/building/construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise fabrication processes, orders, and personnel.
  • Set clear goals to meet targets focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop value engineering strategies for fabricated goods.
  • Benchmark performance and share best practices across centers.
  • Upgrade organization with development/training programs for staff.
  • Maintain raw material levels to meet daily targets.
  • Reduce material waste and optimize inventory turns.
  • Oversee purchasing, scheduling, maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Establish and implement quality programs for customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure supervisors are trained on management, maintenance, and production methods.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules for equipment.
  • Evaluate/process changes to improve fabrication performance.

Here, you are part of a company that rewards your contributions and encourages you to take ownership of your career.Job DescriptionSummaryThe Fabrication Manager will lead the assigned fabrication center to plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Supervise Production/Fabrication processes, orders and employees.Set clear goals and objectives to meet targets with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Develop strategies on value engineering fabricated goods to the customer.Develop benchmarks and implement best practices to exceed benchmark performance; ensure sharing best practices within and across all fabrication centers.Upgrade the fabrication organization at assigned fabrication center by ensuring development/training programs are in place for all production personnel.Maintain the required levels of raw materials in fabrication center while meeting daily targets.Reduce material waste in assigned fabrication center (measured as a % of sales consistent with current practice).Ensure that inventory levels support transfer requirements, while keeping inventory turns at target levels.Stay informed of products and service issues.Oversee purchasing, scheduling, facility maintenance and warehouse/office housekeeping.Establish and implement quality programs to ensure customer satisfaction.Make sure key supervisory personnel are trained on management, maintenance, and production methods.Oversee the development of preventative maintenance schedules for assigned facility equipment.Evaluate, recommend, and assist Leadership in identifying potential changes necessary for optimal fabrication performance.Education, Skills, Experience, and KnowledgeBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Field and/or 5+ years of related work experiencePrevious managerial experienceAbility to train, supervise, and direct personnelTeamwork, multi-tasking, and leadership skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ERP systems (Oracle is a plus)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsProcess driven and ability to focus on continuous improvementAbility to lead and drive company culture, mission and valuesAbility to lead as a hands on manager and team playerLean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus.Experience in distribution and/or building and construction industry is preferredWork EnvironmentFabrication/warehouse environmentPhysical demands may include but are not limited to:Moderate walking, standing, and/or climbing; light lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
